“I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”
Renowned music icon Elton John has disclosed a harrowing health challenge: vision loss in his right eye following a severe infection. The revelation came during a gala performance of his musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, where the 77-year-old artist addressed the audience about his condition.
“I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight,” John shared candidly. Despite the setback, he emphasized his enthusiasm for the production. “So it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and, boy, it sounded good tonight,” he added.

“It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest,” the popular culture titan told ABC’s Good Morning America.
As Fox News reports:
“There’s hope and encouragement that it’ll be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know,” John explained, revealing he can’t read lyrics.
“It kind of floored me,” he later added. “I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”
In September, the “Tiny Dancer” singer shared on social media he had contracted an eye infection that was impacting his vision.
John also noted ongoing uncertainty about completing a long-awaited album, which he first teased during an appearance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
John did not elaborate on the timeline or specifics of his recovery, leaving fans to wondering if the legendary performer will be able to resume work on the project in the near future.
