The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Hours after introducing a bill that proposed labeling “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS) as a mental illness under state law, Minnesota state Sen. Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) was arrested for allegedly soliciting a minor for sex.

Bloomington Police Department detectives had communicated with Eichorn, who believed he was corresponding with a 16-year-old girl to meet up for sex. According to police, a female detective posing as the minor arranged a meeting with Eichorn near the 8300 block of Normandale Avenue in Bloomington. Upon the senator’s arrival in his pickup truck, he was arrested without incident and sent to jail.

“As a 40-year-old man, if you come to the Orange Jumpsuit District looking to have sex with someone’s child, you can expect that we are going to lock you up,” Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said in a press release. “I have always advocated for stiffer penalties for these types of offenses…We need our state legisature to take this case and this type of conduct more seriously.”

Eichorn was promptly booked at the Bloomington Police Department jail before being transferred to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center. Authorities stated that a felony charge of soliciting a minor is pending. (RELATED: Police Make Mass Arrests Following Turmoil At Trump’s Iconic Property)

The senator, who often present himself as a dedicated family man, is married with four children.

According to FOX9 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Sen. Eichorn was first elected in 2016 and currently represents Minnesota Senate District 6, a rural seat in Northern Minnesota that includes Cass, Crow Wing and Itasca counties. His term is set to end in 2027:

He serves on the Environment, Climate and Legacy Committee, in addition to the Finance Committee and the State and Local Government Committee.

Eichorn is a Republican who made headlines earlier this week for being a sponsor of a bill that would declare “Trump derangement syndrome” a mental illness. He introduced that bill the same day he was arrested, records show.

According to Eichorn’s senate campaign site, which is currently down, he is part of the third generation to work at his family’s outdoor store and now runs his own small business in Grand Rapids. He also proclaims himself as being pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and in favor of a fiscally conservative government.

Eichorn, along with Republican state Senators Eric Lucero, Steve Drazkowski, Nathan Wesenberg and Glenn Gruenhagen, gained national attention for attempting to redefine mental illness by introducing Minnesota Senate File 2589 (SF 2589). The bill proposed that listings for mental disorders should include “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which it defined as:

“The acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal persons that is in reaction to the policies and presidencies of President Donald J. Trump.”

Symptoms include paranoia, an inability to separate political disagreements from personal or psychological issues and difficulty maintaining relationships or employment due to “Trump-induced general hysteria.”

Introduced on March 17, 2025, SF 2589 is currently under review by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.

Following Eichorn’s arrest, his Republican colleagues quickly distanced themselves from him. Minnesota State Republicans released a statement on social media, demanding that he step down. (RELATED: Scary Moment For JD Vance: Disturbing Threat Caught On Camera Sparks Outrage)

“We are shocked by these reports and this alleged conduct demands an immediate resignation. Justin has a difficult road ahead, and he needs to focus on his family.”

The nearly evenly split Minnesota State Senate consists of 34 members from the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) and 33 members from the Republican Party—including Eichorn—giving the DFL a narrow one-seat majority.

But as the case unfolds, public and political pressure continues to mount, casting serious doubts on his political future.
