On Wednesday, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery next month.
Kutler shared the news during an internal editorial call on Wednesday morning, according to CNN’s media correspondent Brian Stelter, after first informing the network’s leadership and speaking privately with several of MSNBC’s top anchors.

In a message, Kutler used the moment to urge colleagues to take their own well-being seriously.
“Take care of yourselves and your health,” she told staff, adding that self-care was vital “even in the midst of an unprecedented news cycle.”
Kutler took over the network’s top job in February.

While I can sympathize with anyone that receives such news the ONLY reason this is ‘newsworthy’ is because of who she is. What about the hundreds (thousands?) of others who received the same news, aren’t they ‘worthy’ of getting sympathy as well?
