Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a prominent figure in the U.S. government’s COVID-19 response, is no longer receiving security protection from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The decision to terminate Fauci’s federally-funded security detail was made by President Donald Trump and went into effect last night, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN:
Given he continues to face ongoing threats due to his public-facing role during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fauci has now hired his own private security that he’ll pay for himself, the source told CNN.
This comes as Trump continues his retribution tour against the officials who previously served under him. He has also yanked security details from former national security adviser John Bolton and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Since Monday, Trump has complained about how President Joe Biden preemptively pardoned Fauci as one his final acts before leaving office.
“Even when individuals have done nothing wrong — and in fact have done the right thing — and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage reputations and finances,” Biden said in a statement at the time.
Friday’s action is part of a broader initiative by the Trump administration to impose significant restrictions on travel and funding across over 13 health agencies. These measures include a complete halt to new contracts, grants, external communications and medical research reviews, affecting a $50 billion industry. Some experts warn that these limitations might result in disrupted biomedical research and public health responses.
Fauci, who became a polarizing figure during the pandemic due to his prominent role in crafting and defending public health measures, had been under NIH protection due to threats made against him during his time in public service.
On Jan. 19, 2021, Trump awarded Fauci a Presidential Commendation for his exceptional efforts on Operation Warp Speed. The initiative aimed to accelerate the development, manufacturing and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Dr. Fauci was among 52 individuals recognized for their contributions to this program.
With the NIH no longer covering his security, Fauci has reportedly hired private protection, which he will now pay for out of pocket.

The article says, “On Jan. 19, 2021, Trump awarded Fauci a Presidential Commendation “.. How could that be? Trump wasn’t president until Jan. 20th.
I think Biden awarded Fauci the Commendation.
I understand Fouci but why Pompeo?
That’s not all Ouchie crafted. Be honest.
Trump did not end the security on Fauci. The security was ended before the election and was ended by Biden
