In a major escalation, Israel conducted a series of retaliatory airstrikes inside Iran on Friday night, responding to the Oct. 1 missile strike Iran launched against Israel. Dubbed “Operation Days of Repentance,” the mission deployed dozens of Israeli aircraft, including strike fighters, refueling tankers and reconnaissance planes. All aircraft returned safely to bases in Israel, according to official sources.

Key Highlights of Operation Days of Repentance:

Targeted Strikes: Israel executed three waves of airstrikes focusing on Iranian military assets. The first wave primarily targeted air defense systems, while the second and third waves hit missile and drone bases, as well as production facilities.

Enhanced Freedom of Action: The successful targeting of Iranian air defenses has reportedly increased Israel’s ability to operate within Iranian airspace, with military officials suggesting these strikes pave the way for future operations if necessary.

Damage Assessment and Possible Iranian Response

The full impact of the strikes remains under assessment. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are conducting operational evaluations to anticipate any potential Iranian counter-response. A senior Biden administration official confirmed that Israel had previously informed the U.S. of its planned targets, emphasizing that these strikes are considered a proportional response to Iran’s ballistic missile assault on Israel earlier this month.

In response to the attack, Iranian state media downplayed the damage, indicating Tehran may be hesitant or unable in responding directly. Former IDF General Yisrael Ziv commented on N12 News that Iran appeared “completely helpless for three hours” as the Israeli Air Force targeted critical military installations at will.

Civilian Airspace and Broader Regional Impact

Iran temporarily closed its civilian airspace during the airstrikes, resuming commercial flights by 9:00 a.m. local time on Saturday.

Israel has also escalated its operations in southern Lebanon, with over 70 airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions within the past 24 hours. These strikes reportedly destroyed anti-tank missile launch sites, weapons storage facilities and command centers.

Destruction of Hezbollah Tunnel Network

Adding to the Israeli offensive, combat engineers on Saturday morning demolished a kilometer-long Hezbollah tunnel complex in southern Lebanon, which was believed to be part of a potential invasion route into northern Israel by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force. Engineers reportedly used over 400 tons of explosives to destroy the underground passage, triggering seismic alerts that registered across northern Israel and as far south as Eilat.

Outlook

Israel’s message to Tehran is clear: Any further aggression will be met with swift and substantial retaliation. With tensions at a boiling point, all eyes remain on Iran to see whether it will choose a path of escalation or restraint in the days ahead.

Why “controversial” ally? Israel is a huge ally of the U.S.. Imagine if the U.S. was attacked as they were on 10/10, how do you think we would have responded.

I have more respect for Israel than I do America under the current Administration of Terrorists! I am glad Benjamin Netanyahu gave O’Biden the middle finger and did what they needed to do to protect themselves from the EVIL that surrounds them. I agree with you, why would this article be labeled as a “Controversial” ally when in fact they are brilliant? Thank God for Trump because he will make certain Israel is well taken care of when he is elected again, as our 47th President of the United States. I am certain the Marxists (Democrats) are planning their retaliation by way of burning cities the day after his election is confirmed.

The USA …was attacked like that on 9/11 and the DOD broke and ran under Biden’s failed action. It was basically a Viet Nam style surrender!
