President Donald Trump announced he has ordered two U.S. nuclear submarines to be deployed to “appropriate regions” near Russia. The move is a direct response to what he described as “highly provocative statements” from Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council. Medvedev previously warned that U.S. ultimatums risk nuclear escalation and invoked Russia’s Cold War–era deterrent capabilities.
Trump emphasized that he took action “just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that,” adding: “Words are very important and can lead to unintended consequences.”
Just over 24 hours ago, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev — widely viewed as Vladimir Putin’s likely successor — issued a direct nuclear threat aimed at the United States and President Trump.
Reacting to heightened U.S. support for Ukraine and mounting economic pressure, Medvedev invoked Russia’s doomsday nuclear deterrent known as “Dead Hand.”
The automated system is designed to launch intercontinental ballistic missiles even if a nuclear strike decapitates Russia’s leadership — a chilling reminder of Moscow’s nuclear capabilities amid rising global tensions. (RELATED: Russian Leader Raises Doomsday Threat In Heated Exchange With Trump)
In another post, Medvedev wrote:
If the United States continues its aggressive policy against Russia, and if NATO troops are deployed in Ukraine or strategic facilities are targeted on Russian soil, the response will be immediate and devastating. Russia is a nuclear power, and those making decisions in Washington should not forget this.
“The result will be that your own cities may cease to exist,” he added.
Trump accused Medvedev of careless nuclear rhetoric and touted the U.S. submarine fleet as “far and away the strongest and best” — still “20 years advanced over the pack.”
The rapid show of force reflects a broader pattern in which Trump has paired military readiness with economic pressure to advance U.S. foreign policy and deter adversaries.

Better turn up the ICBM intercepter missles and make dam sure that there are plenty of them to take down all ICBM’s fired from Russia, from several points along the projected paths of their flight. If Russia wants to threaten us, we just shrug our shoulders as bluster, but it their actions show ultimate agression. and I hope we are monitoring them with a lot more than just satalites, to get our fleet ready to return the party favors.
