At a town hall event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Friday night, Lt. Col. Matt Lohmeier, a former Space Force commander, told the crowd that he was dismissed from his role after publicly criticizing the military’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies. The town hall, hosted by former President Donald Trump’s campaign, saw Lohmeier’s story go viral, along with Trump’s response.
Lohmeier, whose dismissal followed his outspoken views on DEI policies within the Armed Forces, addressed Trump directly during the event. During the exchange, Lohmeier expressed gratitude for Trump’s stance against “woke” military leadership, but pressed for more action. He asked Trump if he would consider creating a dedicated task force to prevent those promoting these policies from returning to power within the Department of Defense.
“Will you consider establishing a special task force or position to ensure these monsters never return to the Defense Department?” Lohmeier asked.
Trump responded to the request by offering Lohmeier a role in any future initiative aimed at addressing these issues. “I’m gonna put you on that task force,” Trump said, sparking a loud round of applause.

Lohmeier’s situation, and those of others like him, have ignited broader debates about DEI initiatives in the military and their effect on service members, especially those who criticize said policies. With recruiting numbers already critically low under politically correct leadership, the controversy highlights growing concerns within the ranks.
Lohmeier previously testified before Congress about this crisis in January.

Obama did much worse. He called in all the flag officers and asked if they supported his misguided policies. If they did not, he fired them also…an estimated 230 military leaders fired. That is why the military is sadly lacking in not only leaders, but also recruitment
