A security guard at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo has been arrested by the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) on charges of espionage involving Russia and Iran. Authorities conducted a raid on the suspect’s home on Wednesday, seizing multiple digital devices.
The accused, a 27-year-old Norwegian national, is alleged to have passed information about individuals entering and leaving the embassy to Russia’s foreign intelligence service (SVR) and Iranian officials. The nature and extent of the information shared have not yet been disclosed.

Police attorney Thomas Blom confirms to The Barents Observer via PST’s spokesperson Erik Veum the arrest.
Veum says the police suspects violation of both Section 122 in the Penal Code: Aggravated intelligence-gathering activity targeting state secrets and Section 126: Other unlawful intelligence-gathering.
The accused has, according to the court document, admitted that he has collected and shared information with foreign states, but he denies to have committed espionage.
On Thursday, Oslo District Court ruled that the man could be held for four weeks while investigations proceed, with the first week to be spent in isolation. PST officials have stated that the case remains under active inquiry, with further developments expected as they analyze the confiscated evidence.
