A Texas pediatrician is out of a job after a politically charged and insensitive social media post she made about the deadly flooding in Central Texas sparked national outrage and was widely condemned.
Dr. Christina B. Propst, formerly of Blue Fish Pediatrics in Houston, made a since-deleted Facebook post under the name “Chris Tina,” where she appeared to mock victims of the flood — particularly those from a conservative area — and tied the tragedy to climate change denial and political voting patterns.
“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts,” the post read.
The message went viral over the weekend as rescue efforts continued in Central Texas, where catastrophic flooding on the Fourth of July has already claimed over 80 lives, with dozens still missing — including several children. According to NewsNation, 11 girls were reported missing from Camp Mystic, and the number of unaccounted individuals is expected to rise, Governor Greg Abbott said Monday.
Blue Fish Pediatrics, the Houston-based medical practice where Propst worked, quickly distanced itself from the comments. In a statement posted Saturday on Facebook, the practice expressed sorrow over the ongoing tragedy and stated: “We are aware that a personal social media comment by one of our physicians has caused significant hurt and outrage. The content and timing of that post do not reflect the values, standards, or mission of Blue Fish Pediatrics.”
The group emphasized its commitment to compassion for “every child and family, regardless of background or beliefs,” and strongly condemned the politicization of a tragedy where innocent lives — including children — were lost.
By Sunday, the practice had updated its website with an announcement confirming Propst was no longer employed: “This past weekend, we were made aware of a social media comment from one of our physicians. The individual is no longer employed by Blue Fish Pediatrics.”
Social media users and parents reacted swiftly, with many expressing disgust over Propst’s remarks and questioning her judgment as a pediatrician. Though Propst’s defenders argued her post was meant to be a commentary on climate policy and federal disaster funding, critics said she crossed a line by effectively wishing suffering on a group of people during an active humanitarian crisis — and as a medical professional tasked with caring for children, no less.
The incident has ignited a broader conversation about the implications of political speech in professional settings — especially when lives are at stake. The flood, which devastated areas including Kerr County — a region that overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump — became the unintended backdrop for a deeply polarizing debate on decency and professionalism.
As of Monday, emergency crews continued rescue and recovery efforts in Central Texas. The Fourth of July floods — intensified by torrential rainfall and overflowing rivers — struck during a holiday weekend, catching many campers and families off guard. Governor Abbott warned that many victims may not be reported missing until after the weekend, especially those staying in tents or RVs along the rivers.

Dr. Christina B. Propst is clearly a progressive suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome with characteristic Democrat hatred for those with whom they disagree.
Good riddance, hopefully she will take her ‘beliefs’ to somewhere she is ‘appreciated’ – of wait those places don’t have a big need for pediatricians due to their abortion policies.
BTW – for those who are claiming this was an ‘engineered’ event, please explain why the current administration would intentionally target a MAGA area.
And bless your little heart too, Chris.
