A judge has dismissed former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) over her office’s civil investigation into Trump’s business practices.
James’ investigation revolves around claims the Trump Organization overvalued its properties to secure favorable terms on loans, insurance coverage and tax deductions.
Trump filed a federal lawsuit against James’ office last year, hoping to stop her inquiry.
The New York Post further reports:
The former president filed the lawsuit in Syracuse federal court in December saying that the AG’s two-year investigation into the Trump Organization’s business dealings is being carried out with “political animus” because James views Trump “as a political opponent.”
Trump asked the federal court to halt a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit that James has against Trump and the company claiming they are stonewalling her probe. Or alternatively, Trump asked that James be forced to recuse herself from both her civil case and from her participation in the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal probe.
Syracuse federal Judge Brenda Sannes denied those requests in dismissing Trump’s suit, finding that he could have made the same request of the Manhattan judge handling James’ suit.
“The court concludes that plaintiffs could have raised the claims and requested the relief they seek in the federal action in the New York proceeding,” Sannes’ decision reads.
James’ office launched its investigation shortly after former Trump attorney Michael Cohen testified before Congress that the Trump organization had overvalued its assets.
Friday’s news follows an appeal court’s ruling earlier this week that Trump and his two eldest children, Don Jr. and Ivanka, must testify under oath in James’ investigation.

Letitia James ran for office on the premise of “going after Donald Trump.” Clearly an effort to investigate in search of a crime. There’s no such thing as innocent until proven guilty with these Leftists.
t makes me sick that the New York Attorney General is pushing this to find something on Trump. But if it was a criminal or a person like Hunter Biden, she probably would s.do nothing. It makes me sick how she pushed and pushed on the NRA out of the State of Ne3 York. Next it will be she is pushing New Yorker out of the state. What it amounts up to is when she ran for office she told the people she would get Donald Trump and this will give her a name.
