One of the astronauts stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) just confirmed that Elon Musk was telling the truth when he said the Biden administration refused his offer to bring them home—potentially for political reasons.
The admission came during a press conference when Washington Post reporter Aaron Gregg directly asked NASA astronauts Sunita “Suni” Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore about Musk’s claim.
Astronaut Confirms: “Musk is Absolutely Factual”
Gregg hesitated before posing his question:
“Elon Musk has said that he made the offer to bring you guys back earlier and that it was denied. My first question is, is that true?”
Wilmore didn’t hold back.
“I can only say that, Mr. Musk, what he says is absolutely factual,” he responded, though he admitted he wasn’t aware of the specific details of Musk’s offer to the Biden White House.

Mission Stalled: Politics Over Safety?
Williams and Wilmore have been aboard the ISS since June 2024, after their original eight-day test flight on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft turned into an unplanned nine-month stay due to a serious propulsion failure.
NASA has finally arranged for their return aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, with the launch of the Crew-10 mission set for no earlier than March 12, 2025. If all goes as planned, Williams and Wilmore will head home around March 19 after a routine handover period.
But Musk’s claim—confirmed by Wilmore—suggests their return could have happened much sooner if not for the Biden administration’s alleged interference.
Musk’s Explosive Accusation: Biden’s Move Was Political
Musk first made the revelation during a recent interview with Joe Rogan, where he claimed that the White House declined his offer for SpaceX to spearhead a rescue mission for the stranded NASA astronauts in 2024 because it would have made the administration look bad—particularly as Kamala Harris struggled in the polls. Rather than prioritizing the safety of astronauts, Musk suggested, Biden’s team put optics ahead of action.

Musk’s Mission: Beyond Biden’s Politics
While the White House may have stalled him, Musk remains laser-focused on his vision. Through SpaceX, he continues to push the limits of human spaceflight, with the ultimate goal of establishing a permanent human presence on Mars.
Musk has long said that humanity’s survival depends on becoming a multiplanetary species, ensuring that civilization can continue even if disaster strikes on Earth. (RELATED: Rising Concerns: 1-In-32 Chance Of City-Killer Asteroid Strike In 2032)
