In a stunning moment caught on air, an enraged woman spat on Ed Martin, Donald Trump’s ex-nominee to be DC’s top prosecutor.
Martin was in the middle of a live interview with Newsmax when the woman, who was walking a dog, appeared in the video shared by Rob Schmitt, a Newsmax anchor.
“Who the f— are you? You are Ed Martin!” she shouts. She can then be seen spitting a projectile of saliva at him.
Martin was speaking on Newsmax’s The Chris Salcedo Show at the time, according to Newsweek. He was reacting to President Donald Trump’s rescission of Martin’s nomination to serve as the U.S. attorney for the D.C., the New York Post reported.
“You are a disgusting man,” the woman appeared to add as she stormed away from view, the video shows.

The incident has drawn reactions. Schmitt dubbed the woman in the video a “psychotic lib,” adding that he hoped “she’s ready for a nice stretch in jail.” Others alleged that the woman assaulted Martin and should be charged accordingly.
Spitting on someone is legally considered assault in the United States, including in Washington, D.C. This act can lead to charges of simple assault, which is a misdemeanor. In D.C., the penalties for simple assault can include up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine of up to…

Podcaster and Daily Caller Editorial Director Vince Coglianese posted that Martin told him the U.S. Marshals knew who the woman was and would arrest her. “Also, she clearly ID’d him as ‘Ed Martin,’ leaving no doubt that she was targeting a federal official,” Coglianese alleged.
Trump pulled his nomination of Martin after lawmakers on both sides of the aisle made it clear they would not support his nomination. (RELATED: Jeanine Pirro Named Interim US Attorney For DC After Ed Martin Nomination Withdrawn)
During Martin’s nomination process, North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis emerged as the key Republican voice opposing his confirmation.
A member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Tillis cited Martin’s defense of Jan. 6 rioters and support for blanket pardons as major concerns. He emphasized that anyone who breached the Capitol on that day should face legal consequences, stating: “I have no tolerance for anybody who entered the building on January the 6th.”
Senator Susan Collins of Maine also voiced concern over Martin’s affiliations — particularly his past support for Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, a January 6 rioter with alleged Nazi sympathies. However, her opposition was less vocal than that of Tillis, whose definitive stance played a more pivotal role in the nomination’s collapse.
Trump later appointed Fox News host and former District Attorney of Westchester County Jeanine Pirro to replace Martin. Tillis praised the choice of Pirro.
Jeanine Pirro has had a long and storied career as a prosecutor and she is a great choice by @POTUS to serve as U.S. Attorney for DC!

Trump also announced that Martin would now head the Department of Justice’s Weaponization Working Group and serve as associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney.
“Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney. In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!”
