The FBI has reportedly opened criminal investigations into former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey related to the Trump–Russia probe, including allegedly making false statements to Congress.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of wrongdoing by John Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel for potential prosecution, according to DOJ sources cited by Fox News Digital:

The sources said that the referral was received and told Fox News Digital that a criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway. DOJ sources declined to provide further details. It is unclear, at this point, if the investigation spans beyond his alleged false statements to Congress.

As for Comey, two sources told Fox News the FBI views his interactions with Brennan as a “conspiracy” — a characterization that could open the door to a wide range of prosecutorial options.

According to Just The News, Comey is under investigation for his role in the 2016 U.S. presidential election interference probe — specifically regarding the inclusion of the Steele dossier in the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA).

Some speculate that news of the investigation was deliberately leaked to placate frustration within the MAGA base following the controversial conclusion of the Epstein investigation.

Like Comey, the Brennan investigation comes after Ratcliffe last week declassified a “lessons learned” review of the creation of the 2017 ICA. The 2017 ICA alleged Russia sought to influence the 2016 presidential election to help then-candidate Donald Trump. But the review found that the process of the ICA’s creation was rushed with “procedural anomalies,” and that officials diverted from intelligence standards.

Fox News Digital continues:

The dossier — an anti-Trump document filled with unverified and wholly inaccurate claims that was commissioned by Fusion GPS and paid for by Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC — has been widely discredited. Last week’s review marks the first time career CIA officials have acknowledged politicization of the process by which the ICA was written, particularly by Obama-era political appointees.

Records declassified as part of that review further revealed that Brennan pushed for the dossier to be included in the 2017 ICA.

Yet in May 2023, Brennan testified before the Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee that he did not believe the Steele dossier should have been included in the 2017 ICA on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

After reviewing the case, CIA Director Ratcliffe handed key details about Brennan’s role to the FBI for possible prosecution.

“Brennan violated the public’s trust and should be held accountable,” one source told Fox News Digital.

Trump fired Comey in 2017. In May, Comey sparked controversy by posting a photo of seashells on a beach arranged to spell out “86 47.”

Some conservatives argued that “86” — slang in restaurant culture for ejecting or eliminating someone — was a veiled call for the death of the 47th president.

Comey denied any ill intent, insisting he did not mean Trump any harm.

Unfortunately we have the same old pony show. Just missing “along came Jones”
Appears those dudes have agreed to “take the fall” and be embarrassed for a bit.
Heck, they might even get a get a “Strongly worded letter” from a certain republican member of CONgress
You know that will hurt. They may even have to make “strongly worded” comments about it on TV
Trump might even call them bad guys.
