Republican Congressman Cory Mills (Fla.) responded to recent reporting that he is facing eviction after failing to pay rent.
On Monday, Mills publicly commented on the issue after independent journalist Roger Sollenberger published court filings alleging Mills owed $85,000 in back-rent at a property in Washington D.C.

According to independent journalist Roger Sollengberger, who first reported on the lawsuit against Mills, he had paid his rent late for “nearly every month” since he moved into his penthouse apartment in June 2023. He also missed payments for several months entirely.
Bozzuto Management Company has asked the court to allow it to evict Mills. It has also asked for an order that would require Mills to submit future monthly rent payments with the court until the case is resolved, according to NBC News.
In response to Sollenberger’s reporting, Mills uploaded several screenshots from his emails and alleged it was a technical error that caused his late payments.
“Roger, I know facts are unusual and unfamiliar thing for you, but here’s just the past two months where you can see I’m repeatedly asking for payment links and again as I tried with management today, it failed to process,” Mills wrote in a Monday post on X, with screenshots from the payment website and emails requesting a separate link for payment.

“‘Error code 108 typically indicates an issue with the Windows Installer Service, often meaning another installation is already running. It can also be related to bank connectivity problems in financial software,’” Mills continued.
“Facts are a finicky thing but wouldn’t expect you to be anything other than a biased hack!”
The reports come five months after D.C. police investigated a physical altercation at Mills’s home in Washington. No arrest was made at the scene. (RELATED: Trump-Appointed US Attorney Rejects Arrest Warrant For Rep. Cory Mills Amid Domestic Dispute Allegations)
The reported victim denied that a physical falling out took place, telling the Floridian Press she dialed law enforcement to “address a personal matter.” The woman said the interaction was “emotionally charged,” but the entire situation was “misrepresented” by journalists, arguing her words were taken out of context.

If the payments failed to go through, Mills should still have the $85,000 in the bank and can satisfy the bill.
