President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social Tuesday morning that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) allegedly “reported his primary residence” as Maryland — not California — to secure favorable mortgage terms. The commander in chief called it a “pattern of mortgage fraud” starting in February 2009 and said Schiff only corrected the designation in October 2020 once it became an issue.
The claim is based on mortgage filings that listed Schiff’s Maryland home as his primary residence, which Trump argues is inconsistent with Schiff representing Southern California.

Trump referenced a USA Herald ethics complaint originally filed in October 2024, accusing Schiff of “mortgage fraud, voter fraud, and unlawful campaign filings over two decades”
Per HousingWire:
Citing conclusive evidence reached by Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Schiff reported his primary residence to be in Maryland rather than in California. Primary residence mortgages typically offer more favorable loan terms such as lower interest rates.
“The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice,” Trump’s post read.
Today’s post follows a report by USA Herald in May 2025 of a “bombshell ethics complaint,” initially filed in October 2024, by Christine Bish and Darren Ellis against Schiff, accusing him of a “pattern of mortgage fraud, voter fraud, and unlawful campaign filings stretching back over two decades.”
The Trump administration has made other mortgage fraud accusations against political opponents in recent months. In early May 2025, New York Attorney General Letitia James was subject to a criminal investigation related to mortgage fraud, following a referral by Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte.
Mortgage fraud typically involves misleading lenders about occupancy status to obtain lower interest rates. Critics argue the statute of limitations (10 years) may have expired for most relevant transactions, which reportedly took place from 2009 to 2013.
So far, the allegations have attracted attention from political commentators and ethics watchdogs — but no formal oversight or legal action has commenced.
Whether that will change following Trump’s comments remains to be seen.

Fraud, I believe. Hard to imagine Shiffless having to borrow money.
Things that make you go hmmmmmm…. and those glass houses are breaking that people live in. Maybe shouldn’t have been throwing those stones while living in one (or two in different States)! Could jail time result?
Most of America knew he is a crook but he brook the law before and nothing happened to him.
