Popular podcast host Joe Rogan warned that not just the assassination of TPUSA co-founder Charlie Kirk, but the public’s reaction and celebration of it point to the country getting closer to a civil war.
While speaking with guest Brian Redban, Rogan addressed how there has been a chaotic back-and-forth between America’s political left and right in recent years. He argued the stark division within the country was highlighted by the brazen murder of Kirk during a campus event in Utah this past September.
“Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating like, ‘whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with?’ Like, where are we right now on the scale of one-to-civil war? Where are we? Are we at seven? Because I thought we were at a five. I thought we were like four. Four or five,” he said on the Tuesday’s episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “But after the Charlie Kirk thing, I’m like, ‘Oh, we might be like seven.’ This might be like step seven on the way to a bonafide civil war.”
Joe Rogan cautioned that when people start rejoicing over someone’s death—especially a public killing witnessed by their family—it reflects a starkly disturbing moral decline. He emphasized that if the person’s biggest offense was merely saying things others disagreed with, then celebrating their violent death is deeply troubling.
Rogan highlighted how it’s not just people on the margins, but people in respected fields posting their joy about an assassination on their public social media profiles.
“This is nuts,” he said. “Like what are you guys on? What’s happening here?”
Months after Kirk’s death, TPUSA events continue to experience protests and threats of violence.
Rogan has previously warned against the rising acceptance of political violence.
Days after Kirk’s assassination, Rogan said his murder “opened up” his eyes and never would have thought so many people would celebrate a man’s murder.
“It’s just bizarre, like, normal people that, I think, think they’re good people, and they think, they genuinely think, that guy was a bad guy,” Rogan said. “And I don’t think they’re right. And I think they were indoctrinated. And I don’t agree with everything that Charlie Kirk said or did.”
During a Monday TPUSA event at the University of California, Berkeley campus, a man was seen beating a TPUSA supporter outside the event. The individual was arrested and charged with violent crimes, according to local police. Several others were arrested related to the campus event, including four women arrested for felony vandalism.
The brawl is now under federal investigation.
As political tensions continue to boil, especially in the lead-up to the 2026 midterms, the national conversation around violence, speech, and responsibility is likely to intensify.

The Democrat party has always been the party of racism, hate, division, and violence.
Too funny! the dimwit nitwits do not realize they are out numbered by a major majority and most of that majority are armed and will respond if any fruitcake of the dimwit nitwits fires first or just takes the position of a civil war attacker. And as an old lady I can say I am a great shot with pistols, or rifles. Learned in my youth and sleep with a loaded gun by my bed. So illegal alien or civil war combatant, no matter I will shoot to kill if forced into that position! And I won’t bother taking prisoners. If they come at me, I will shoot to end the conflict.
Armed and ready is what I was raised with. My entire family except for my mother was taught to use guns of all types. I assume I have many neighbors who might not be ready to fight and might be liberals but I side with the president in any conflict either from the border or within our country. And I won’t fire until I have to but in the end I will fire if it is to defend myself or someone else from a combatant attacking. And I am positive I am not alone in this position.
Dimwits are so unaware of reality in this country. We are sick and fed up with the lying, cheating, stealing morons. Would not vote for a single dimwit nitwit. Bill Clinton flipped me to the GOP in the 90s and my husband was so glad. Up to then we cancelled each other but good old slick willie made me realize how very nasty they were even though they looked and often sounded oh so sincere! And since that day my CPA, BSA, programmer background has helped me unravel the lies of their party. And today looking at the regions they rule in, it is stunning what lousy jobs they do!
Not saying the GOP is perfect but of the two their track records are generally far superior barring the rare misfit in that party! So in a civil war I side with the party that does the most good most of the time!
Sadly the way things are going now Joe Rogen may be right. Praying for America.
