Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

READ TODAY’S PDB BELOW:

NATIONAL SECURITY

The biggest threat to the military may not be what you think. Social media has changed the way that the conflict in Ukraine is being seen around the world, and it has allowed those on the frontlines to share videos and images. In addition, the mobile devices that most people around the world increasingly carry on a daily basis may have also played a role in allowing Ukrainian soldiers to track, target, and even take out high-ranking Russian officers.

Will Republicans cut off Ukraine? If control of Congress flips, a small but growing number of America-first lawmakers could derail American support for the war against Russia.

HOMELAND SECURITY

US Coast Guard has intercepted more than 3,000 Florida-bound Cuban migrants since October. The U.S. Coast Guard has stopped at sea more than 3,000 Cuban migrants fleeing deteriorating economic, safety and political conditions in the island nation who were heading to the coast of Florida since October — more than the last five fiscal years combined, according to the agency.

CHINA THREAT

Navy officials say Pacific exercise is not aimed at China, but it zeroes in on defending Taiwan. The sprawling Rim of the Pacific 2022 exercise is not designed to counter or threaten China, according to the head of the U.S. Pacific Fleet — but it does focus on the skills and technologies that would be “most salient for potential conflict in the years ahead.”

RUSSIA THREAT

Finland, in NATO and with the F-35, forms a powerful challenge to Russia. For years, there has been little room for argument that Finland is laser focused on how to defend its territory.

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 139. At least seven people have been killed and 40 injured as a result of a Ukrainian air raid on the city of Nova Kakhovka in the Russian-occupied Kherson region, according to Moscow’s state news agency TASS, citing a Russian-backed official.

Ukrainian rockets hit Russian-controlled area as Kyiv gears up for southern counter-attack. Ukraine said on Tuesday it had carried out a successful long-range rocket strike against Russian forces in southern Ukraine, territory it says it is planning to retake in a counter-offensive using hundreds of thousands of troops.

Putin expands fast-track Russian citizenship to all Ukraine. As Russian missiles struck a key Ukrainian city, Russian President Vladimir Putin expanded a fast-track procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship to all Ukrainians on Monday, another effort to strengthen Moscow’s influence over war-torn Ukraine.

IRAN THREAT

Iran to deliver armed drones to Russia, White House says. The White House says it believes Russia is turning to Iran to provide it with “hundreds” of unmanned aerial vehicles for use in its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Shinzo Abe’s greatest legacy is military, not economic. The assassinated former prime minister made Japan’s defenses more muscular, and he was the father of the Quad alliance.

The US should support Japan’s move to legitimize its military. It is difficult to describe the shock that went through Japan after the assassination of former prime minister Shinzo Abe on Friday by a gunman in a society where shootings of any kind are all but unknown, let alone a fatal one involving a major political figure.

US MILITARY AND SPACE

Army sees progress on Fort Detrick groundwater contamination. The U.S. Army says it is making progress in the long-running effort to address groundwater contamination at part of Fort Detrick that was used as a test site for the Army’s biological warfare program.

The Army may ditch alcohol restrictions for soldiers in the barracks. In a move that would no doubt be celebrated by soldiers everywhere, the Army is considering removing alcohol restrictions from the barracks.

DOCTOR DEATH – Former Army doctor offers free abortions at his clinic for enlisted women. Women in the military have always been patients at Dr. Franz Theard’s abortion clinic in New Mexico, a roughly 30-minute drive from Fort Bliss, Texas.

The Navy’s first Vietnamese admiral saw his family killed by an infamous Viet Cong guerrilla. U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Huan Nguyen’s road to becoming a distinguished Navy officer was a long and tragic one, and begins with one of the war’s most iconic photographs.

In order to defend Taiwan, the U.S. Navy would have to be in the waters near Taiwan Coming to the rescue after the fact like Ukraine, might be a little too late. The U.S. didn’t get directly involved in the Ukraine War with Russia, what makes anyone think Lying Corrupt Quid Pro KING Joe would get involved in a war with Communist China over Taiwan? If the U.S. Navy is in the waters near Taiwan, such a move could provoke Communist China.

The question should be not that we can fight China, the question should be will Biden do it!
