Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, one of the Democratic Party’s most outspoken progressive voices and a potential contender for a 2026 U.S. Senate run, has been hit with new questions about her financial and ethical management after county records revealed she has carried an unpaid lien on her Dallas condominium for more than a year.
A notice of lien filed April 11, 2024, and reviewed by Fox News Digital, shows Crockett owes the Westside Condominium Association $3,047.79 in unpaid assessments and related charges. The document states the congresswoman is in default and has failed to pay the required fees “despite demand upon her,” giving the association a legal claim on the property until the debt is settled.
The Dallas County Clerk’s Office confirmed Tuesday that no release of the lien has been filed — indicating the debt remains unpaid.
Crockett, who purchased the luxury condo in 2014 and is registered to vote at the address, did not respond to inquiries about the delinquency. The gated complex, which advertises “spa-like” amenities, a clubhouse and pool, and monthly HOA fees ranging from $222 to $403, promotes itself as a secure, upscale “refreshing retreat.”
Strategist: “Not Ready for Primetime”
The revelation adds to growing unease within Democratic circles as Crockett weighs a Senate run against longtime GOP Sen. John Cornyn. One veteran Democratic strategist, speaking to Fox News Digital, said the latest development underscores a broader pattern.
“The more we learn about Jasmine Crockett, the more clear it is that she’s the worst possible candidate to run for Senate in Texas… She’s just not ready for primetime.”
Lavish Campaign Spending Raises Eyebrows
The lien controversy comes on the heels of scrutiny over Crockett’s Federal Election Commission filings, which showed she spent nearly $75,000 in donor money this year on luxury hotels, limousine services, and security — much of it in cities far outside her Dallas-based district.
Her reported expenses include:
- $4,175 at the Ritz-Carlton
- $2,304 at The Luxury Collection
- Over $5,300 at the West Hollywood Edition
- $1,173 at the Times Square Edition
- More than $2,000 at Las Vegas’s Cosmopolitan and Aria resorts
- $2,703 at the Edgartown Inn (Martha’s Vineyard)
- $3,160 at The Coco (Martha’s Vineyard)
Crockett also spent over $25,000 on luxury transportation, including limousine services in Chicago, Washington, and the Bay Area, and nearly $50,000 on campaign security — despite being a vocal supporter of the “defund the police” movement.
A Year of Controversies
Crockett has become one of the most recognizable progressive figures in Congress — but also one of the most controversial.
Her most widely condemned moment came when she mocked wheelchair-bound Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels,” a comment she later attempted to downplay.
She also recently drew criticism for misstating details related to Jeffrey Epstein during a committee hearing, prompting bipartisan backlash on social media.
Senate Decision Looms
Despite mounting scrutiny, Crockett remains a potential high-profile challenger in the Democratic field. She has said she is “seriously weighing” a run and is expected to announce her decision on December 8, according to the San Antonio Current.
Cornyn, seeking a fifth term, is facing his own contentious Republican primary against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt — setting the stage for what could become one of the most combative Texas election cycles in years.
