President Donald Trump called on Congress to expel Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on Thursday, intensifying a long-running political feud rooted in impeachment proceedings and investigations of the president.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Raskin of repeatedly using congressional powers to target him and predicted the Maryland Democrat would pursue additional impeachment efforts if Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.
“Jamie Raskin, a Loser in Life, who worked endlessly during my First Term to impeach me, and failed miserably, wasting the Country’s money, time, and effort, will guaranteed be trying to do it again,” Trump wrote.
The president also endorsed Mark Levin’s recent comments, who recently urged House Republicans to seek Raskin’s removal from Congress.
“I agree with Mark Levin when he says to, EXPEL THE BUM,” Trump wrote. “Congress can never be great with people like this, who suffer massively from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), casting their vote of HATE!”
Trump further alleged that Raskin had engaged in improper conduct during previous investigations and impeachment proceedings, though he did not cite specific allegations. He also suggested that former President Joe Biden’s use of pardons had shielded certain political figures from legal consequences.
Raskin played a central role in both impeachment proceedings against Trump during his first term and later served as a member of the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6, 2021. He was also among the Democrats who supported efforts to challenge Trump’s eligibility to appear on some state ballots under the 14th Amendment.
Conservative commentator Mark Levin, whose remarks Trump cited, argued this week that Raskin has repeatedly sought to undermine Trump through impeachment proceedings, election challenges, and congressional investigations.
“Jamie Raskin is already leading a plot to impeach the President if the Democrats take the House,” Levin wrote on social media. “He led the prior two impeachments against the President, has pushed for his resignation in the past, also was involved in twisting the 14th Amendment to ban candidate Trump from ballots.”
Levin also criticized Raskin’s participation on the Jan. 6 committee and accused him of helping weaponize congressional oversight against political opponents.
Trump’s post additionally targeted Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), another Democratic lawmaker who has repeatedly advocated for impeachment proceedings against him.
“Al Green, who just lost his race in a landslide to an unknown candidate but, in my opinion, one that had more talent than Raskin,” Trump wrote before highlighting Green’s unsuccessful impeachment efforts throughout his presidency.
Any effort to expel a member of Congress would face steep hurdles. Under Article I of the Constitution, expulsion requires a two-thirds vote of the House of Representatives, a threshold rarely reached in modern congressional history. Most expulsions have occurred in cases involving criminal convictions, corruption, or support for the Confederacy during the Civil War.
The exchange highlights the increasingly combative political climate heading into the 2026 midterm elections, with impeachment once again emerging as a potential flashpoint should control of Congress shift after November.
