Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm has been leading the fight for criminal justice reform for 15 years.
While the campaign to rehabilitate most prisoners has merits, Chisholm finds himself under fire following a deadly car rampage at a Christmas parade.
The problem? By his own admission, the esteemed DA said that his office set an “inappropriately low” bail for the prime suspect in Sunday’s attack in nearby Waukesha.
A Catastrophe in the Making
Two days before allegedly killing six people, Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. made bail (set at $1,000) over a domestic violence charge. According to police reports, he ran over the mother of his child in a parking lot brawl.
Brooks also had another case pending against him involving reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm.
Fox News reports:
A self-described “progressive,” Chisholm has championed left-leaning reforms and previously acknowledged that his proposals could result in a person being let go and committing murder.
“Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody?” he reportedly told the Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal in 2007. “You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”

The paper reported in 2013 that his “prediction may now have come true” as a man, Jeremiah Schroeder, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide after leaving custody on a deferred prosecution agreement with Chisholm’s office. Bob Lutz, whose granddaughter had allegedly overdosed on heroin provided by Schroeder, said: “If (Schroeder) would have been in jail the way he should have been, this would not have happened.”
Following Sunday’s parade, Chisholm’s office said it would conduct a review of the state’s bail recommendation for Brooks — which it claimed was inconsistent “with the approach of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office toward matters involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail.”

Chisholm has previously taken credit for the election of progressive DAs in cities like San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Chisholm should be sued and charged for manslaughter and complicity, then sentenced to o50 years for each person dead and injured at killer Brooks’ hands.
Don’t talk about reform. Talk about protecting Americans from savages and animals. Anyone with common sense knows not to let an animal out with no or little bail who has a record as bad as this bigot. I agree that not only should the racist be locked up with no bail the DA should be in jail right next to him.
