The House Ways and Means Committee has released six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns.
The announcement marks the culmination of a years-long legal battle and offers a detailed account of the billionaire’s recent financial history.
Per CNBC:
The panel voted last week to make the returns public with redactions of sensitive information after a lengthy legal battle over making the documents public. The Ways and Means Committee last month obtained Trump’s personal and federal income tax returns for the years 2015 to 2020. It had sought the records since 2019, when Trump was president, and he tried to block their release in court.
The committee released a report summarizing the ex-president’s returns earlier this month. The summary prepared by the Joint Committee on Taxation showed Trump declared negative income in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020. He paid a total of $1,500 in income taxes for the years 2016 and 2017.
The Democratic-led panel released the returns only days before Republicans are set to take control of the House and the Ways and Means Committee.
The vast majority of House GOP lawmakers have defended Trump, who has launched another bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

The committee voted 24-11. Ranking Member Kevin Brady, R-Texas, said afterward that the decision would set a dangerous precedent.
As a presidential candidate in 2016, Trump broke with recent tradition by declining to release his tax returns.

According to sources close to the committee, Trump’s federal tax returns will be placed in the congressional record.

That was my reaction to this as well, Trump donated all of his income as President to charities, so is his tax return surprising. Let’s see Joe Biden’s and the rest of his families tax returns. Let us see the tax returns of every politician who has become a millionaire since being elected! There are so many corrupt politicians and they have the nerve to go after Trump who was wealthy before he was elected, he did not become wealthy after being elected, as so many politicians have. Oh hell, lets just make every politician make their taxes public!

This is disgusting!! Lawmakers are responsible for IRS tax laws and nobody in their right mind would NOT take advantage of the loopholes; that’s what all politicians and wealthy people have always done! Releasing Trump’s returns to the public does not serve any legislative business and neither did the BS reason they gave for wanting them in the first place.

If the IRS didn’t go after him, what makes them think they will find anything incriminating? And as the article said, releasing a presidential candidate’s tax returns is TRADITION, not a law nor a requirement.
