Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.
According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.
The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government Holds First Hearing
One great benefit of having Republicans in control of the House of Representatives is their authority to create special committees. One such committee created this year is the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which holds its first hearing today at 12:30 PM, just as today’s edition of Hill Happenings hits your inbox.
This special subcommittee is chaired by Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan and features a number of other prominent Republicans in its ranks, including Elise Stefanik of New York, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, and Matt Gaetz of Florida. The full roster of Democrats and Republicans on the committee can be seen here.
Today’s noon hearing will feature two panels discussing “the politicization of the FBI and DOJ and attacks on American civil liberties.” The planned lineup of speakers is as follows:
PANEL I:
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, Iowa
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, Wisconsin
U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin, Maryland
Former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Hawaii
PANEL II:
Mr. Thomas Baker, Former FBI Agent
Professor Jonathan Turley, George Washington University Law Center
Mr. Elliot Williams, Principal, The Raben Group
Ms. Nicole Parker, Former FBI Agent

Former Twitter Executive Yoel Roth Grilled By House Panel
Republicans on the U.S. House Oversight Committee spent time this week grilling Twitter’s former Head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth about his role former with the platform, what was done by “Old Twitter” to censor conservatives, and what role Twitter may have had in censoring information unfavorable to President Biden and his son Hunter.
Congressman Andy Biggs of Arizona called out Roth for censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story, despite the New York Post not violating any of Twitter’s policies with their work.
Former Twitter exec Yoel Roth admits the @nypost’s Hunter Biden’s laptop story didn’t violate any of Twitter’s policies.
New York Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez also asked Roth about the infamous “Libs Of TikTok” Twitter account, which takes some of the left’s most radical videos from TikTok and posts them on Twitter. Doing this, “Libs Of TikTok” creator Chaina Raichik catches many leftists that hold roles such as doctors and teachers admitting their plans to indoctrinate impressionable children with radical ideologies – at best – or mutilate them by performing “gender-affirming” surgeries including hysterectomies at worst.
When asked about the account by Ocasio – Cortez, Roth remarked that it was “regrettably” still on the platform.
Senator Fetterman Hospitalized
Pennsylvania’s Democrat Senator John Fetterman has been hospitalized, per numerous reports Wednesday night.
According to Sen. Fetterman’s office, he was taken to George Washington Hospital after feeling “lightheaded” but did “not show evidence of a new stroke.”
“Towards the end of the Senate Democratic retreat today, Senator John Fetterman began feeling lightheaded. He left and called his staff, who picked him up and drove him to The George Washington University Hospital. Initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation,” Fetterman’s communications director, Joe Calvello, said in the statement.
