Presumably in response to reports that his retirement may be imminent, Sen. Mitch McConnell tweeted a clear message, possibly aimed at his more ambitious Senate Republican colleagues.
The minority leader has stayed out of public view since he fell and suffered a concussion on March 8. Following a lengthy stay at a D.C. hospital followed by inpatient treatment at a physical rehabilitation facility, the Kentucky Republican returned home, where he worked remotely.
Per CNBC:
McConnell tripped and fell on March 8 at a dinner event in Washington for the Senate Leadership Fund, a GOP super PAC. He spent several days in the hospital and over a week at an inpatient physical rehabilitation facility being treated for a concussion and minor rib fracture, his office said.
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is also expected to return to in-person work next week, while Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., remains absent due to a shingles diagnosis and hospitalization. Feinstein began facing calls to resign from two House Democrats on Wednesday because of her lengthy absence.
McConnell was elected to the Senate in 1984 and has served as Senate majority leader.
