Another twist has emerged in the heated altercation between Congressman Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) and Texas law enforcement following Jackson’s temporary detainment at the direction of Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry (R). According to the sheriff’s report, the congressman, who previously served as the physician to Presidents Obama and Trump, allegedly screamed profanities and threatened to assault officers who were trying to make space so EMTs could assist a teenager having a seizure at a local rodeo.
An allegedly intoxicated Jackson reportedly put a gumball in the teenager’s mouth to raise his blood sugar. The sheriff’s report noted that medic Kimberly Thomas criticized the decision, noting that inserting a foreign object in a seizing patient’s mouth presents a choking hazard.
Over the weekend, Jackson’s office challenged the allegations. Spokesperson Kate Lair claimed her boss – a trained ER physician – was asked to help the boy but was prevented from administering care in a potentially life-threatening situation “due to overly aggressive and incompetent actions by the local authorities.” She also denied claims made by multiple law enforcement officials that the congressman had consumed alcohol that evening.

Officers escorted Jackson off the premises before letting him leave with his wife. The incident report noted that he continued his belligerent behavior, as American Liberty News previously reported:
Later that evening, Sheriff Terry received a text from the dispatch center saying that Congressman Jackson wanted “a phone call tonight.” Before allegedly threatening to “bury” Terry in the next election, the sheriff noted that Jackson demanded an investigation and consequences for the officers who detained him.
Upon reviewing the officer’s bodycam footage, Sheriff Terry said he was satisfied with their conduct.

That short clip taken out of context is meaningless at best, inflammatory at worst. It doesn’t show what he did to start with to try to help the boy, nor does it show how the police interfered with his life-saving attempts.
My experiences with Texas DPS(I am a courteous, accident free, non drinking Texan who has operated with red lights and sirens as a firefighter, EMT for 28 yrs.) lead me to come down on Rep. Jackson’s side unless definitely proven otherwise.
What Eli Dumitru said, but the 31-minute clip was even more meaningless – useless. The body-cam gives not the slightest clue as to why Rep Jackson was handcuffed, or why he was agitated. I saw no evidence that he was inebriated or impaired in any way; just that he appeared to be justified to be mad.
