Former NFL lineman Gosder Cherilus was spotted leaving East Boston District Court earlier today. The retired football star, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was arrested following an incident on a Delta Airlines flight bound for Dublin.
Cherilus allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger, leading to a major disruption on the transatlantic flight. As a result of the incident, the plane was forced to return to Boston, where Cherilus was taken into custody. He has since been released on a $2,500 bail.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel,” an airline spokesperson said.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman was selected 17th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.

He spent his first five seasons in Detroit before signing a deal with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency ahead of the 2013 season – his $35 million contract made him the highest-paid right tackle at the time.
However, he only lasted two seasons there, despite signing for five years. He then spent his final two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring in 2017.
A little over an hour ago, Cherilus made a statement on social media, claiming that he took a sleeping medication that “I don't normally use, which resulted in behavior that is not representative of my character, and I would like to apologize to the passengers and flight crew.”
