AOC, Democrats Call for Trump Impeachment Over Iran Strikes

Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and a number of other Democrats are calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment following his surprise order to bomb multiple nuclear sites in Iran — a move critics say bypassed Congress and risked igniting a new Middle East war.

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

President Trump announced earlier that day that the U.S. military had successfully struck three key Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan — using B-2 bombers and bunker-buster munitions. He declared the operation a success, noting all aircraft had returned safely.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) labeled it “not Constitutional,” while Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL) called it an “unambiguous impeachable offense.”

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), a senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee criticized the administration for failing to consult Congress beforehand. “According to the Constitution we are both sworn to defend, my attention to this matter comes before bombs fall. Full stop,” he wrote on X.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) echoed the demand for transparency, saying Congress “must be fully and immediately briefed” and warning that Trump bears “complete and total responsibility for any adverse consequences.”

While Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and other top Republicans reportedly received advance notice of the mission, many Democrats insist the operation required congressional authorization.

Despite the backlash, others in Congress defended Trump. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) praised the action, saying, “Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities.” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called it the “right call,” adding, “The regime deserves it. Well done.”

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley acknowledged that President Trump was not the first to engage in this type of strike abroad, while admitting the gravity of the situation.

“These members would have to argue that it is a high crime and misdemeanor under Section 4 of Article Two of the United States Constitution,” Turley wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“However, prior presidents have used the same authority in launching major attacks on foreign nations.”

Turley referenced similar military actions taken by former Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and others on places like Libya, Khartoum, Sudan and Afghanistan.

“Since Iran has threatened to attack the United States in response to such an operation, it could trigger a series of cascading decisions. For example, under Article Five of the NATO treaty, an attack on one member is an attack on all,” he noted.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green, a staunch Trump ally who had repeatedly voiced reluctance to involve the United States government in Iran, took a somber tone.

“Let us join together and pray for the safety of our U.S. troops and Americans in the Middle East,” she wrote. “Let us pray that we are not attacked by terrorists on our homeland after our border was open for the past 4 years and over 2 Million gotaways came in.”

Prior to the attack, Greene lamented that “Every time America is on the verge of greatness, we get involved in another foreign war.”

time Iran would have already “NUKED” someone, maybe even the US ! Congressional approval is a STUPID concept

Dear AOC please stfu. Let people wonder how dumb you are rather than speaking and removing their doubt.

We have a President who does what he says he will. He just demonstrated “Peace thru Strength”.
He did NOT declare war on Iran but acted as “Commander in Chief” should to remove the real threat against us.
Pacifist would enable the World leader in Terrorism to have Nukes.
We have Congress that will tell the voters what they want to hear and then NOT do anything to put “America First”, instead they serve themselves.

Iran is a terrorist country. Trump is the only one who had the guts to do what is right! AOC is a joke! Obama was a joke! They would have you believe that pandering to these idiots is the thing to do. It is just prolonging the inevitable.
