WASHINGTON — A closed-door deposition of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before the House Oversight Committee was interrupted on Thursday after a photograph from inside the session was shared on social media, reportedly by conservative commentator Benny Johnson using an image provided by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.). The disclosure raised concerns about possible violations of committee rules governing privacy during the proceedings.
Johnson posted an image on X that he claimed shows Hillary Clinton testifying under oath about Jeffrey Epstein before the Republican Oversight Committee.
“This is the first time Hillary has had to answer real questions about Epstein. Clinton does not look happy,” Johnson wrote.

After the post, Clinton adviser Nick Merill told Politico that the deposition went off the record “while they figure out where the photo came from and why possibly members of Congress are violating House rules.”
In a post on X, Boebert defended Johnson’s decision to post the photo, though she did not confirm in the post that she was the one who sent it to him.
“Benny did nothing wrong,” the Colorado Republican wrote. “Proceeding with deposition.”
According to Congress.gov, leaking photos from a closed-door congressional deposition generally violates House and Senate rules governing confidentiality, security, and the prohibition of unauthorized photography.
