The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol has voted unanimously to subpoena former President Donald Trump for his alleged role in the attack.
The committee is made up of seven Democrats and two Republicans: Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

The televised vote comes after the panel wavered for months on whether it would subpoena the bombastic former president, who has frequently criticized the investigation as a partisan witch hunt designed to hurt him politically.
“He is the one person at the center of the story of what happened on Jan. 6. So we want to hear from him. The committee needs to do everything in our power to tell the most complete story possible and provide recommendations to help ensure that nothing like Jan. 6 ever happens again. We need to be fair and thorough in getting the full context for the evidence we’ve obtained,” Chair Bennie Thomspon (D-Miss.) said shortly the vote.
“We also recognize that a subpoena to a former president is a serious and extraordinary action. That’s why we want to take this in full view of the American people.”
The move marks a major escalation in the effort to hold Trump accountable for the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — a riot the committee contends was orchestrated by the former president.
Reaction predictably varied across the political spectrum.
As Rep. Nehls (R-Texas) pointed out, it’s been widely recognized for months that the Jan. 6 hearings won’t save President Biden and the Democrats from a likely midterm rout, with voters overwhelmingly concerned with cost-of-living expenses and crime rates.
Although today’s hearing is the final public meeting by the Jan. 6 Committee before next month’s elections, the panel suggested that its investigation into Trump will continue.
Not even an hour after the panel’s vote Trump slammed the move and decried the panel as a witch hunt designed to harm him politically.
“The committee is a hoax, a sham, a partisan witch hunt which is a continuation of the witch hunt that has gone on since the great day for our country that I came down the golden escalator with our future first lady,” Trump said. “They have no case, they have no ratings, so they have to try to do this to get publicity.”
Despite Trump’s ire towards the House panel a source close to the former president insists he “loves the idea of testifying.” The source told Fox News, that if Trump does in fact testify he plans to “talk about how corrupt the election was, how corrupt the committee was, and how Nancy Pelosi did not call up the National Guard that Trump strongly recommended for her to do three days earlier on January 3, 2021.”
“They didn’t cover the reason for January 6—the largest crowd—it wasn’t set up by me,” Trump said. “The committee didn’t cover election fraud, which was massive, and they didn’t cover why Pelosi didn’t call the National Guard.”
“They didn’t do their job. I believed the crowd was going to be bigger—just my instinct—and they had the chance to call up the National Guard three days before Jan. 6, and if they did, Jan. 6 would have been a very different day,” Trump said. “But they didn’t do it.”
He added: “They were derelict in their duty. I gave them the authorization and the recommendation to call up the National Guard.”

I am sick to death of the scum on the January 6th committee. In fact I am sick to death of Democrats and Rino’s in general. It is a witch hunt. Just to keep him off the ballot. The Democrats control the DOJ, the FBI, the MSM and a good part of the rest of the treasonous Washington Swamp. I don’t care what they say they have. After what they have done to him. After what they have done to the the people at the Capital, to parents and pro life Christians I have no trust or faith in the Federal government or Federal law enforcement.

Spineless Republicans! The House Republicans should have been filing a lawsuit every time the J6 committee took an action, including this one. The lawsuit would contend that this is an illegitimate committee because it has no Republican-appointed members and thus violates House Rules. As such it has no legitimate authority to do anything.
Did these kangaroo court, 3rd world banana republic clowns ever present any REAL evidence that Trump is guilty? What’s her name from Arizona lost her seat in Congress, all related to this. People are fed up.
