Only One GOP Lawmaker Is Calling For McConnell To Go

-

Concerns about 81-year-old Sen. 's health persist despite his medical clearance by the U.S. Capitol's attending physician after a consultation with his neurologists.

McConnell appeared to freeze for the second time in little more than a month on Wednesday before being led away. (RELATED: Mitch McConnell Suffers Second Medical Incident This Summer)

Virtually every congressional Republican is defending the Senate leader despite concerns from many who believe he and other politicians are too infirm or confused to carry out the duties of their office.

Only one Republican Member of is publicly urging the longest-serving GOP Senate leader to step down.

And it's a familiar face: Georgia Rep. .

As NBC News reports:

Greene also suggested the possibility of invoking the 25th Amendment, which deals with presidential succession and disability.

“These politician's staff and family members should be ashamed of themselves by enabling and allowing their loved ones to remain in office all to hold power. We are talking about our country's national security and it's all at stake! 25th amendment and other measures need to be on the table,” she wrote.

McConnell's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

McConnell appeared to freeze Wednesday during a gaggle with reporters in Covington, Kentucky, pausing for more than 30 seconds after he was asked whether he would run for re-election.

In an interview, Dr. Art Kramer, founding director of Northeastern University's Center for Cognitive & Brain Health, speculated on the cause of McConnell's freezes.

Kramer observed that the effects of a concussion, like the one McConnell experienced from a fall at a Washington-area hotel in March, last much longer than previously thought, especially for elderly people.

“Concussion effects can last for much longer than we used to think,” Kramer said. “And as you get older, concussions have more serious effects.”

  1. I’m really starting to like this MTG gal. She doesn’t hold back and doesn’t mince her words. Tells it like it is.

If we had a bunch more representatives like her, this country would be in a lot better shape than it is right now.

    • Totally agree with you. Still concerned about McConnell’s health. Yet, physically, I feel he is not up to the task. He needs to step aside.

      • What he needs to do is only step down as the GOP senate leader but stay in office until his term is over. That will take much of the stress and pressure off him and allow him to just function as a senator. As a country we can’t afford for him to just step down because that would allow the left wing Gov in Kentucky to appoint a democrat to replace him. The country sure doesn’t need that.

    • McConnel’s the guy who would not let Barack Obama do the things that Biden is doing now. You probably remember when he was negotiating an annual budget with Obama and a fellow’s whose last name was Jew. (Mel, I think). Anyway, they cooked up a budget sequester and suggested McConnel swallow it. McConnel, like a fox accepted that and used it to keep a lid on the Obama administration spending for another six or seven years. The guy is a smart guy and it too deliberative for you young jerks (aka) MTG. You can’t do what you want to do with a plurality of three in the house.

  2. The GOP should be ashamed of allowing RHINOs such as McConnell and Mitch to caucus with them!!! Kick them out
