Report: Trump Cancels Trip To Capitol Hill Amid Speaker Chaos

Former President Donald Trump has reportedly canceled his planned trip to this week as struggle to elect a new .

Sources previously told The Hill that Trump and his team were discussing a possible trip to Capitol Hill amid the debate over the next Speaker.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) is also pursuing the Speaker's gavel. On Monday, McCarthy did not rule out the possibility of returning as Speaker in order to settle the turmoil in the House and deal with the war taking place in . McCarthy left open the possibility, telling Fox & Friends, “That's a decision by the conference. I'll allow the conference to make whatever decision; whether I'm a speaker or not, I'm a member of this body. I know what history has had, and I can lead in any position it is. And right now, I realize we need these five actions taken now and stop delaying.”
