Republican senators are bitterly criticizing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) for preventing projected Senate winner Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) from participating in Senate orientation. Democratic incumbent Bob Casey has yet to concede.
Schumer’s decision to bar Dave McCormick from attending the Senate orientation has triggered criticism from GOP lawmakers. Schumer’s stance reportedly stems from the fact that Casey has not conceded the Pennsylvania Senate race, despite media projections that McCormick won.
Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) voiced his disapproval on X, pledging to “escort” McCormick into the Capitol if necessary. Other Republican senators have similarly condemned the decision, characterizing it as unfair and partisan.
The backlash gained further momentum with statements from GOP senators, including Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who expressed frustration at Schumer’s decision. Writing on X, Scott shared his personal experience, drawing a parallel to his own Senate race in 2018: “Dave McCormick is the senator-elect & @SenSchumer’s move to not allow him to participate in orientation this week is disgusting. They did the same thing to me after I beat a Democrat in 2018. We have to fight this!”
The Associated Press declared McCormick the winner in Pennsylvania’s Senate race on Thursday. With nearly all ballots counted, McCormick maintains a lead of 0.6 percentage points, equating to around 40,000 votes. A recount could be triggered if the margin shrinks below 0.5 percentage points, but experts believe a recount is unlikely to alter the outcome significantly.

Lawyers for McCormick said they expect between 15,000 and 20,000 provisional ballots will be counted in the coming days in deep-blue Philadelphia.
In a late Thursday filing in the Court of Common Pleas, McCormick’s attorneys requested the ability to submit “global challenges” to provisional ballots they believe are defective and should not be tallied because they’re without a secrecy envelope, missing a signature or flawed in other ways. They also wanted officials to segregate ballots submitted by individuals who had previously tried to vote by mail.

In a separate lawsuit in the Court of Common Pleas, McCormick asked that the courts compel election officials to evaluate provisional ballots in the presence of at least one representative from each party.
Each political party and candidate is allowed to designate one observer apiece to watch the provisional ballot canvassing process. However, because far more Democrats than Republicans are running for elected office in Philadelphia, there is an imbalance between the two parties in the number of authorized representatives they are permitted.
According to Pennsylvania state law, a recount is mandated if the margin narrows to below 0.5 percentage points. However, with a recount deemed improbable to change results, McCormick’s supporters argue he should be granted access to orientation and other preparatory activities for his new role.

Force the resignation of any Politician who has made substantial financial gains above their pay grade that was a result of insider trading.
Further force the resignation of any politician who voted for any issue that increased OUR NATIONAL DEBT !!! It is the insane acts like this from the Democratic leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer that has lead to the demise of the Democratic Party. First they should be ashamed of their desperate actions to continue what has been a complete failure in their leadership over the last few terms in office. They seem to have forgotten who they work for, the people, and the people have spoken in this last election by changing the leadership of the House, Senate, and Executive Wings. Both Legislative leaders should strongly consider retirement, to take their questionable built up wealth built up while in office which significantly rose well beyond their goverment salaries from dubious sources, and just disappear into the past. But I highly doubt the narcistic personalities of either will allow them to do so. Power not only corrupts but is hard to give up, and in their case both play heavily on their decsions to the demise of the USA. God help us recover from the period of Political failures in leadership.
