ANALYSIS – Joe Biden is quietly blocking a bipartisan effort, similar to the 9/11 Commission, to investigate and uncover the origins of the virus that killed over one million Americans.
The effort, approved in March by the Senate health committee, envisions a similar 12-member, bipartisan panel of experts with subpoena power, to finally get to the bottom of where COVID really came from.
Former Sen. Joseph Lieberman, an independent who sponsored the bill creating the 9/11 Commission, called on President Joe Biden to support the new effort.
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., the COVID bill's cosponsor, has also made a strenuous appeal for it.
Yet, Biden seems suspiciously uninterested in getting to the truth, and, in fact, the White House is reportedly privately resisting the effort.
Former New York Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey isn't shy about asking why Biden is resisting this effort.
In a New York Post column she writes:
What is the president afraid of uncovering? Is he compromised by his family's lucrative deals in China?
She also notes that it may take the GOP House to finally blow the lid off COVID's origins and on any related links between U.S. officials or agencies and China.
She continues:
Determining COVID's origins should not be a partisan mission, but it seems it is. Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio), who will chair the House Intelligence Committee, vows to expose how the federal government pressured social-media platforms to suppress debate and censor postings suggesting that COVID leaked from a lab. That was an unprecedented assault on America's freedom of thought.
It's possible the virus was a biological weapon in development at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Last week, House Republicans released a report charging the US intelligence community with “misleading” the public on “key issues” including possible connections between the Wuhan lab and China's biological-weapons program. Stay tuned for hearings to uncover these deceptions.
House Republicans also intend to investigate why the National Institutes of Health continues to send millions to fund Chinese labs.
A proposal to prohibit the NIH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from funding labs in China is provoking protests from scientists who say it will discourage global cooperation.
Well, as McCaughey says, we shouldn't be cooperating with a totalitarian enemy bent on global domination anyway. Especially one who aggressively covered up its role in creating and spreading the horrible COVID pandemic.
Hopefully, the GOP-led House will soon crack open the cover-up by China and the Bidens. ALD
