Decades After 9/11, TSA Continues to Embody Negligence

-

The Transportation Security Administration was created in 's wake to prevent a repeat of boxcutter-wielding terrorists from taking over airplanes and turning those planes into weapons of mass destruction.

Since its creation, the has been a demonstrable failure at keeping weapons off planes but has been an expert at harassing and humiliating passengers, even as it wastes billions of taxpayer dollars a year on needless security theater.

Oh…and about those boxcutters it's supposed to stop from getting through security. Turns out, it's rotten at detecting those, too:

A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Tampa changed course Friday night after an unruly passenger was discovered with a box cutter, according to officials.

After the suspect was taken into custody and searched, a second box cutter was found in their carry-on, according to the agency. Blades are prohibited in the cabin but allowed in checked bags.

According to the Transportation Security Administration, employees who screened the male traveler's items ahead of the flight did not follow protocol, according to the agency.

The TSA is not good at its job. Reform might be possible on some level. But the better course would be to abolish it – completely. And return airport security to airports and airlines.

  1. Automate TSA
    Remove workers from posts
    Use biometrics for Entry
    Multi screen baggage & passengers
    Reduce humans at Gates
    Update, modernize, change

    More can be done

  2. Tens of thousands of TSA agents are union workers and they act like it. Chance of dismantling that agency are slim and none.

  3. ABOLISH the rules. Make airlines financially liable for WHO they let on the plains. I am 100% certain that would streamline the security checkpoints while drastically reducing threats.
