And former Vice President Kamala Harris, a potential Democrat presidential nominee in 2028, is leading the way in opposing constitutional rule of law. Democrats’ recent deceptive and unconstitutional gerrymandering referendum in Virginia, passed by a slim 3.4% margin, was struck down by the state’s supreme court for violating clear provisions in state law.
The court found, among other things, that Democrats illegally rushed the effort to disenfranchise most of the state’s Republican voters beyond very specific limits enshrined in the constitution placed there just four years ago.
Republicans make up well over 40% of the voters, but under this outrageous plebiscite would have only been given one out of eleven congressional seats (less than 10% of the seats).
Thankfully, arrogant Democrat overreach did them in and the court shut it down. The court’s decision was a clear case of the rule of law restraining the tyranny of the majority, as our founders called it. I call it restraining democratic mobocracy.
Based on the never-ending Democrat rhetoric about President Trump (elected by the people) allegedly violating the Constitution, you would imagine Democrat leaders would be praising the constitutional victory in Virginia. But no.
Since following the state constitution thwarted their power grab, Democrat leaders immediately and cynically changed their tune on constitutions’ restraining political power and cried that the Virginia Supreme Court was overruling the “will of the people.”
This makes it obvious that Democrat’s newfound love for the constitution was always a ploy to counter Trump as opposed to a new deeply held conviction about limited government.
VP Harris posted Friday on X that “the people” in Virginia “made their voices heard at the ballot box … Today, the Virginia Supreme Court ignored the will of the people and overturned those democratically chosen maps. … We must continue our fight to restore the power of the people.”
So now that a state constitution is hampering Democrat power, rather than the U.S. Constitution hampering Trump’s power, VP Harris is arguing that the “will of the people” supersedes Virginia’s highest law.
As Dean Karayanis writes in The New York Sun:
Her position — that the ruling by the commonwealth’s supreme court against a new congressional map “gives a boost” to President Trump — ignores that constitutions exist to stop partisans from running roughshod over citizens.
He adds that Harris’ position is a call for direct democracy, the passions of which America’s national, and state, constitutions seek to curb.
“The Virginia court’s ruling vindicates principles of due process and the rule of law that the Framers’ generation sought,” the Sun wrote earlier, “in both state and federal constitutions, to preserve for ‘ourselves and our posterity.’”
Karayanis continues by noting that Justice Antonin Scalia told the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2011 that this is essential to American justice. “Every banana republic,” Scalia said, “has a bill of rights.” But, he added, “the structure of our government” is “the real key to the distinctiveness of America.”
Meanwhile, when facing a similar scenario in California a decade ago, but with her party’s policies being thwarted by the will of the people, Harris urged the state supreme court to overrule the people.
As California’s attorney general, Harris refused to defend Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage — passed by an almost identical margin to the one favoring Virginia’s gerrymandered map. She argued then that Prop 8 had abused the initiative process and violated the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.
When the Supreme Court overturned Proposition 8 in 2013, ignoring the will of the seven million people who voted for it, Harris said: “California is validated.” She didn’t cry that the “people [had] made their voices heard at the ballot box.”

I believe Biden said that Harris is lazy and not very smart.
For those who don’t understand the wording and the meaning of the Constitution; no matter what may be VOTED in by an electorate, if it doesn’t follow the Constitution in meaning, it can’t be considered legal.
That was put in to keep the majority of voters from either accidentally or purposefully doing something that isn’t Constitutionally legal.
An example: if people would vote to keep a certain group out of the country, either by bias or by being told false information about that group, it would be illegal whether or not it was voted into a supposed law.
That Constitutional law is to keep the majority from abusing the minority.
The Democratic Party has little interest in laws or Justice. There focus is on Power and the ability to sell access to the U.S. Tax base to the highest contributor. They give no preference to decency, or providing a preference to laws to give a priority to issue assisting the raising healthy children who will be the citizens, leaders, and hope of the future. No concern for protecting healthy decent families from their greed.
