Good morning.

Congress is mounting its strongest challenge yet to President Trump’s Iran War, federal prosecutors have unveiled a sanctions-evasion case tied to Iran’s nuclear program, and investigators in Washington, D.C., are digging deeper into allegations that police officials manipulated crime statistics.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to approve a war powers resolution to limit unauthorized American military involvement in Iran.

Sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the measure would require the White House.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – Charlie Kirk suspect Tyler Robinson caught after family friend turned him in. Investigators revealed that bullet casings recovered at the scene bore inscriptions referencing antifa (anti-fascist) ideology.

One casing was marked with the message: “Hey fascist! Catch!” And “if you read this you are gay lmao.” The markings suggest Robinson was immersed in the antifa movement.

As the BBC reported, authorities say one unfired casing had the words “Hey fascist! Catch!” and an up, right and three down arrows. The three down arrows alone could be a common symbol used to represent the “anti-fascist” movement.

A second casing had the lyrics to a song “Bella Ciao” inscribed on it. The song honors WWII-era partisans of the Italian resistance who fought Nazi Germany.

The third unfired casing was inscribed with the words “If you read this, you are gay lmao” – again an apparent reference to online trolling humor.

Antifa is a loose collection of far-left activists who have been active in the U.S. over the last decade, at street protests and other events. They have become increasingly violent and accuse all conservatives of being fascists.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories ending the week from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

Lockheed Martin is in “very active” conversations with DOD about the concept of a fifth-generation-plus F-35 that would include some of the technologies the company has developed for its sixth-generation fighter concepts.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Amid domestic political violence, the U.S. marked 24 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on Thursday with somber ceremonies at the Pentagon, New York and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Naval Academy building cleared after threats reports, lockdown, 1 injured.

DEFENSE POLITICS

White House’s selection for the next vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said he supports a number of changes to DOD’s budgeting process put forward by a 2024 congressional commission.

ODNI expected to shrink counterintelligence, counterterror centers. Two intelligence-coordination centers would shrink or be closed under a reorganization plan that some observers say will hinder the U.S. ability to counter spies and terrorists.

Hegseth asked to defend DOD’s ‘uniquely troubling’ deal with Elon Musk-owned company. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) raised serious national security concerns this week about DOD’s plans to integrate the controversial “Grok” chatbot into U.S. military operations via a recent high-dollar deal with xAI.

Two Democrat senators claim they have reached the “inescapable conclusion” that Israel is acting on a systematic plan to destroy and ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza to force local people to leave, and they say the U.S. is complicit.

MIDDLE EAST THREATS

Israeli forces have detained more than 100 Palestinians in raids on the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem and have imposed a curfew, as the Israeli offensive in Gaza City has forced more than 200,000 Palestinians to flee the largest urban center in the enclave.

DOD will provide the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) a security package worth $14.2 million, including explosives to destroy weapons caches, to help in its new mission to disarm Hezbollah.

CHINA THREAT

China’s newest aircraft carrier and the country’s first to integrate an electromagnetic aircraft launching system was spotted for the first time sailing toward the Taiwan Strait.

Northern Luzon-based Philippine Marines flex defense capabilities. Philippine Marines trained to defeat an enemy force with modified civilian vehicles and anti-tank ambushes in their latest territorial defense drills amid Manila’s recent concerns of a potential regional conflict between China and Taiwan.

RUSSIA THREAT

NATO allies shot down three Russian drones that illegally entered Polish air space, in what officials say was the first time in the alliance’s history that its planes engaged potential threats in allied airspace.

Could a ‘drone wall’ have protected Poland’s airspace? Poland, Finland, and Baltic nations are racing against time to operationalize a multi-layered initiative aimed at fortifying their borders against potential Russian drone threats but have faced political delays and logistical challenges.

Poland’s Prime Minister has pledged to push ahead with a “great modernization program” for his country’s military, a day after Polish and NATO forces shot down drones during a Russian aerial attack on neighboring Ukraine.

German arms giant Rheinmetall is poised to deliver its Skyranger short-range air defense system to Ukraine by the end of the year.

SPACE THREATS

Space Force considers adding ‘combat’ to command’s name. Space Force appears to be embracing its inner Johnny Rico with a possible name change of one of its commands.

Space Force contractors are building an AI-powered tool to detect cyberattacks on satellites by directly monitoring the behavior and telemetry outputs of satellite systems in orbit.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

UN Security Council, with US support, condemned recent strikes on Qatar’s capital Doha, but did not mention Israel in the statement agreed to by all 15 members, including the U.S.

Japanese warship fires railgun at target vessel for the first time. New pictures shows testing of a prototype electromagnetic railgun aboard the testbed warship JS Asuka earlier this year.

Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro has been found guilty of attempting to overturn the country’s 2022 election with a plot prosecutors say included plans to assassinate the president-elect in a bid to cling to power.

EUROPEAN DEFENSE BUILDUP

Restoring UK airborne nuclear deterrent is key goal for new air chief. Empowering the Royal Air Force to reintroduce a nuclear-strike capability as soon as possible will be a key priority for the service in the coming years.

Future air defense for naval vessels and combat armor may include a defensive escort of uncrewed vehicles equipped with electronic warfare measures or drone-killing cannons, says BAE Systems, Europe’s largest defense company.

UK will scale up interceptor-drone technology developed by Ukraine and plans to deliver thousands of drones to the embattled country every month.

Germany’s Rheinmetall is on the brink of acquiring local shipbuilder Naval Vessels Luerssen (NVL) as it looks to break into the naval domain and take advantage of lucrative domestic and European market opportunities.

BAE Systems expects an order for hundreds of CV90 tracked combat vehicles from a group of up to six European nations in the second quarter of 2026.

US MILITARY

Marine officer fired from recruiting duty over Charlie Kirk social media post.  Marine Corps officials are investigating whether a recruiter made an insulting social media post about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Wednesday while giving a speech in Utah.

DOD last month held its first “Top Drone” school for drone pilots to demonstrate their skills in a threat-representative environment.

Air Force says its second B-21 Raider has flown to Edwards Air Force Base in California, expanding the service’s capabilities to test the next-generation stealth bomber.

Leaders of a Georgia-based church with congregations in five states have been charged by federal prosecutors with swindling millions of dollars in veterans benefits from parishioners serving in the military.

Army drill sergeants are now banned from making social media posts with trainees during basic training.

Washington state Guard unit to become a mobile brigade as part of Army modernization. For the second time in just over 10 years, a Washington National Guard unit is being ordered to get faster and lighter in its combat role.
