ANALYSIS – What does it say about the current fraudulent prosecution of former President Donald Trump, that the state’s key witness was a universally hated, serial exaggerator, who would often go rogue and may have been suicidal? It should say a lot.
And that describes Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-attorney-turned-Trump nemesis who will soon be testifying against Trump in a court in New York City.
Lawyers for the former president argue that Cohen had acted on his own behalf to make the payments to the porn actress “Stormy Daniels” to cover up Trump’s alleged affair before the 2016 election. They add that Cohen tried to distance Trump from him.
Prosecutors argue otherwise, claiming that the plan to make payments to Daniels was hatched by Trump, in cahoots with Cohen, and former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker. This is based mostly on Cohen’s word.
But can we believe Cohen?
In what may be very damaging testimony prosecutors didn’t expect from their own star witness, Hope Hicks, a one-time Trump communications official, told a Manhattan court that Cohen was essentially a bag of trouble, and borderline batsh*t crazy.
This doesn’t help Soros-backed Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump on the manufactured ‘Hush Money’ case.
According to The Epoch Times, Hicks stated that Cohen attempted to “insert himself” into the campaign and confirmed a defense lawyer’s comment that he “went rogue” at certain moments.
The outlet adds:
Under cross-examination, Ms. Hicks testified that Mr. Cohen, a central figure in the case, attempted to get involved in the campaign but “wasn’t supposed to be on the campaign in any official capacity” and wasn’t involved in the campaign’s strategy. Mr. Cohen “liked to call himself a fixer, or Mr. Fix It,” Ms. Hicks said.
“And it was only because he first broke it that he was able to then fix it,” she said after being questioned by Trump attorney Emil Bove. When asked about whether Mr. Cohen “went rogue,” Ms. Hicks confirmed that he did, taking actions that the Trump campaign did not authorize.
So, Cohen appears to be a creator of problems not a fixer of them, and he would go “rogue” and do his own thing with Trump’s knowledge or approval. That says a lot.
But there’s more.
The Daily Caller reported: “A witness in the trial of former President Donald Trump testified Thursday that he thought former Trump attorney Michael Cohen was going to “kill himself” over missing out on a spot in the Trump administration.” It noted:
Keith Davidson, former attorney for Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels, testified that he received a call from Cohen while holiday shopping at a “strangely decorated” department store sometime in December 2016, where Cohen aired his frustration about not having a place in Trump’s cabinet. Davidson agreed he had concerns for Cohen’s “physical safety” following the call.
“I thought he was going to kill himself,” Davidson said.
…“‘Jesus Christ, can you fucking believe I’m not going to Washington, after everything I have done for that fucking guy, I can’t believe I’m not going to Washington,’” Davidson recalled Cohen as saying. “‘I’ve saved that guy’s ass so many times, you don’t even know.’”
But that’s still not all. The Daily Caller added:
David Pecker, former National Enquirer publisher, has said more than once during his testimony that he found that Cohen was less than reliable. Pecker agreed that Cohen was also “prone to exaggeration.”
And then there’s this, reported by The Washington Post: “Even before the defense brings its case, government testimony has described Cohen, a key hush money witness, as a ‘jerk,’ ‘difficult’ and ‘hopeless.’” The paper added: “Nobody liked Michael Cohen.”
The Post also noted that Cohen was reviled by all for his “shoot first, aim later” approach to the law and public relations.
So, there you have it. The key witness against Trump in his politicized mockery of a criminal proceeding in Manhattan was universally disliked, hates Trump for not bringing him to the White House, is a serial exaggerator who would often go rogue, and may have been suicidal.
Bottom line – take anything that comes out Cohen’s mouth with a big grain of salt.

Key Witness Against Trump A ‘Jerk,’ Would Often Go ‘Rogue,’ Possibly Suicidal
Treasury Secretary Clarifies Threat Against Bill Pulte
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged Wednesday that he threatened to “kick ass” during a heated confrontation last year, while firmly denying reports that he threatened to punch the now-acting Director of National Intelligence “in the face.”
The unusual exchange emerged during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pressed Bessent about reports surrounding a confrontation between the two Trump administration officials during the summer of 2025.
According to Bessent, one key detail in the widely circulated account was inaccurate.
While he denied threatening.
