THE DAY AT A GLANCE:
Gun Rights Under Fire
A concerning gun rights case is raising questions about no-knock warrants. See what we know so far here.
The death of a Minneapolis man is raising questions regarding the legality of no-knock search warrants when no life is in immediate danger. Gun Owners of America (GOA) is calling for a full investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom is continuing to stomp on Californian’s right to bear arms. Click here to read about his latest legislation.
The latest legislation allows citizens to sue gun manufacturers for the selling and spreading of certain guns. Newsom claims the unreleased bill is modeled after the Texas Heartbeat Bill, part of which allows citizens to report abortion providers who break the law.
Abortion advocates and state lawmakers alike agree that the bill displaces blame and fails to address the issue of gun violence in California. Republican Assemblyman James Gallagher said, “Crime has gotten worse under this governor, and that’s a fact. The problem is criminals – there’s no accountability for crime in California, and that’s because of policies enacted by Gavin Newsom and the supermajority of Democrats.”
On a brighter note, Missouri is defending a new bill seeking to protect gun rights. The legislation allows citizens to sue state or federal agencies for $50,000 if they prove their Second Amendment rights were violated.
Russia Advancements Confirmed
Late Friday night, reports of sporadic shelling in Ukraine emerged. The incident suggests an attack may be imminent this weekend. National security expert Paul Crespo reported on the latest exclusively for ALN here.
According to national security expert Paul Crespo’s exclusive report, “U.S. officials have warned that Russia is preparing to manufacture a pretext to invade Ukraine in the coming days, and that it could take the form of a fabricated escalation in territory controlled by separatists.”
Durham Investigation:
Senators recently sent a warning to the DOJ amid the investigation. Over 40 senators are asking Attorney General Merrick Garland to respect special counsel John Durham’s prosecutorial independence.
The latest filing suggests the Clinton campaign misused government databases to spy on the Trump Administration.
Celebrating Liberty
On this day in 1847, surviving members of the Donner Party were finally rescued in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The emigrants were truly trailblazers of the west.

Sen. Ruben Gallego Moves to Challenge Trump Green Card Policy
Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.
According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.
The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.
