A new national poll finds most Democrats say the United States was not justified in using atomic weapons to end World War II.
“Reflecting on the United States’ actions, 35 percent of Americans today say using the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 was justified, while 31 percent say it was not justified. A third say they are not sure,” the Pew Research Center announced in the release of a poll on the issue.
A 2015 Pew poll on the issue found 34 percent said it was not justified, similar to the 2025 poll, but 56 percent said it was. The 2015 poll did not include a “not sure” option.
But while Americans overall are split on the justification, or in favor, there is a shocking break among those who identify as Democrats.
Among Democrats, only 23 percent say the bombing was justified, while 42 percent say it was not.
Among Democrats who call themselves “liberal,” only 19 percent say the bombing was justified, while half, 50 percent, say it was not.
Among Republicans, 51 percent say it was justified, while only 20 percent say it was not.
Many historians say the use of atomic bombs actually saved Japanese civilian lives by avoiding an invasion of Japan itself, an act that would have killed far more non-combatants through conventional bombing, urban warfare and nationwide loss of access to food and water.

So it is estimated that to invade Japan to end WWII it would cost at least a million American lives and probably twice that many more in Japanese lives and Allied lives. That is at least 3 MILLION lives. wasted and extending the war for at least a year or more to satisfy liberal democrats.
By ending the war by invading Japan and battling it out would have been the loss of millions of lives. I’m estimating at least 1 million people on each side. It just affirms what I’ve said about the democrats (marxists) in that they believe in child sacrifice, don’t they?
Yep, apparently they would rather that we suffer the estimated one MILLION casualties and prolonged the war for possibly as much as two more years. And never mind all the additional destruction and death to the Japanese that would also have entailed.
No reasonable person would be in favor of either option that Harry was confronted with but sometimes a hard choice has to be made. I believe that ultimately after much soul searching he made the hard choice to drop the bombs and perhaps even more importantly the Japanese realized that to prolong the war would have resulted in even more deaths and destruction.

While most of these 42% to 50% Polled of these cowardly Democrat “Snowflakes” were not alive or participating in the horrors of WWII and today claim to “Hate America, our Constitution and our American Flag” lack any serious understanding of the dire conditions posed by Japan and the evil WWII Axis Powers as well as theJapanese’s complete God-like devotion to their Emperor’s plan to fight to the last man (or woman) in a Kamikaze mass suicidal resistance.
It was clear to President Truman and his Generals that this was true and likely to cost over 1-million Allied lives to invade and virtually exterminate most of the population of Japan due to their own resistance commitment should the Allies use conventional warfare and weapons! Truman’s only other alternative, because of the blind resistance plan, was to convince the Emperor and his military staff of the futility of their resistance plan and the imminent consequences to the Emperor and all of his people with an effective & powerful example — It took two A-Bomb examples to prove to the Emperor that this devastation was real and repeatable.
Yes, this use of the Atomic Bomb was justified and saved millions of lives of both the Allied Forces and the Emperor & the Japanese People — Which were treated kindly by the USA and the Allies after their timely surrender.
The Democrat Party of today No-Longer Demonstrates Common Sense, Responsible Governance or Integrity like in the days of FDR, JFK, and Truman (perhaps, the most honest and humble of all).
All they do is whine and criticize like cowards, even attacking their own like: President Truman (D), Confederate Hero Statues (i.e., Southern Democrats like General Lee), Not realizing that the hateful & racist KKK was an Arm of the Democrat Party itself (Attacking, Censoring, Murdering both Blacks and Republicans) — Just like today Fascist “Antifa – “Anti-Fascist Oxymoron-Named” black-shirt Street Thugs patterned after Mussolini’s Fascist Socialist “Blackshirts” street thugs and Hitler’s NAZI Fascist Socialist street thugs pushing Progressive Socialist-Communist Ideology).
Far too few of the members of the Democrat Party know the actual sordid history of their own party whose own failings and traits they falsely project on President Trump and the GOP.
You have heard the Dems ignorantly calling Trump: “Fascist” meaning a “Socialist Dictator” when Trump is clearly a “Capitalist” and competent executive legally fulfilling what the majority of the USA Populations and States elected him to do! The Dems don’t like Trump because — He Keeps his Campaign Promises — Unlike traditional politicians that just “Tell E’m What they Want to Hear to Get Elected … Then Do Whatever you want legally or illegally (we are seeing so very much of this unethical and illegal conduct by Democrat Politicians and their Deep State Bureaucrats coming to light now, finally).
So why should such a poll of Democrat Party Members have any meaning, when they are so devoid of knowledge of their own sorry history and true facts!
When I lived in Japan, a Japanese friend told me that we should NOT feel bad about using the A-bomb there because if they had had it, they would have used it on us. While he was/is pro-American, he had very much knowledge of the attitude of the former government during that war and knew that they would have done it.
And it DID save a great many lives of both Japanese and American people. At that time the Japanese civilians would have fought against us, as well as their military. Akio told me so, and he knew this for a fact.

Wars are ugly. They are supposed to be. That’s why civilized people should always look for ways to avoid them. When that fails, the fastest way to end a conflict is thru extremely brutal means targeting enemy combatants. Unfortunately many civilians will become canon fodder. However, the end result ends the war and saving people on both sides. History has proven this time and time again.
Was this supposed to be a shocker ? Everybody knows that Demonocrats are against everything POSITIVE !
Gen. Sherman during the Civil War said: “If you’re really serious about stopping a war, REALLY REALLY SERIOUS, you will bomb the civilians” ! Why ?…..because they support the war effort. It worked. All self-righteous Lie-berals (with the Look-At-Me-See-How-Nice-I-Am Syndrome) can wring their hands now.
I used to be on the fence on that subject, but I recently watched a lengthy documentary that changed my mind. Letting the war drag out longer would have given the Russians a big stake in Japan and that would have been bad for everyone except the Russians. Also, the invasion would have forced our soldiers to kill civilians including women and children. The memories of the war were bad enough without adding that. Then there is the issue of how many lives on both sides would have been lost. When given all of the facts, there simply wasn’t any other rational decision.
