California Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed 28th Amendment is a blatant attempt to eradicate individual rights from the Constitution, demonstrating just how far the anti-gun-rights mindset is willing to go in an effort to foist its prohibition agenda on the American public.
Newsom’s proposal reeks of infringement on Second Amendment rights. He wants gun controls permanently enshrined while claiming these measures ‘will respect the country’s gun-owning tradition protected by the Second Amendment.’ That is so self-contradictory it is laughable. If he truly respected this nation’s tradition of private gun ownership, he wouldn’t attack it by pushing this nonsense.
The governor wants to raise the minimum age to purchase a firearm to age 21, which immediately sets the right to keep and bear arms apart from other rights enjoyed by citizens when they reach their 18th birthday. He would constitutionally mandate a so-called “universal background check” which would translate to universal registration. He would institute an undefined “reasonable waiting period,” which would turn the Second Amendment right into a government-regulated privilege, because a right delayed is a right denied.
His proposal also prohibits law-abiding citizens from purchasing, and therefore owning, modern semiautomatic rifles, which further erodes the constitutionally-protected individual right to keep and bear arms.
Newsom’s announcement claims these are all ‘common sense’ measures, but there’s nothing sensible at all in this scheme. This is a thinly-disguised effort to repeal the Second Amendment by making it constitutionally allowable to infringe upon and impair the exercise of a fundamental right Americans have enjoyed for more than 230 years.
More importantly, there is nothing in his proposal about holding criminals accountable or protecting the right of self-defense. It’s all about restricting the rights of honest citizens.
Gavin Newsom isn’t fooling anyone with this deceitful gambit, except maybe himself and the national media. The establishment press and the political far left may lap this up, but the American public isn’t that gullible. Here’s a guy with ambitions to be President, and what he is proposing would smash a cornerstone of our federal constitution. For him to say otherwise suggests he is frighteningly delusional.

Newsome reminds me of our useless Governor, L(W)es Moore. Both pretty boys with a smile and BS rhetoric. Their political philosophy (oppose 2A for good citizens, no vouchers for school, crime and grime) mirror one another. They both have aspirations for the WH. Moore is an empty suit like BHO when come into office. At least Newsome has some governance of a large State.

He speaks as those it is common sense. What is common sense saying you can’t defend yourself at 18, but you can defend your country? Did he forget about the requirement to register for the draft at18? Did he forget you can voluntarily join the military service at 18? And last but not least, what about the hypocricy that a child can decide they are a different sex, but is not mature enough at 18 to own a gun? This stuff makes my head hurt.
More government control, at least on everyday citizens! The man’s a dolt! Cannot believe the people supporting this kind of man. You CA guys deserve the lives you have. Friends just visited Norway, a prime example of socialism at its best. Beautiful, pristine country. Looks of the 70’s, no slouchy looking people, most look and dress alike, they appear not to like Americans. Not very friendly! With the government many in the US are supporting, picture your life being controlled by someone else cause you folks are just too lazy, or drug crazed, to realize it! Many years ago I predicted that the world as I know it would disappear and become a “Stepford” world of little robot people, look alikes, walk alikes, talk alikes, doing only what the government demands. If not you will disappear! Well people, as Hitler tried to do, so your prez is , too! Get ready and enjoy the ride. Guns will be the least of your problems as I see no one but those useless miscreants falling into step cause someone’s gonna take care of everything but wiping their behinds!!!!
Face it folks, any and all ‘gun control’ laws only inconvenience law abiding gun owners at the very least if they are not out and out punishments for that group. Meanwhile, criminals ignore all of the ‘common sense’ laws (20,000 at least) already in place. We know it isn’t about the guns, it is about control.
