Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – Trump says he will ‘liberate’ Los Angeles in speech to mark the 250th anniversary of the Army. He called violent leftist rioters there, “animals” and “a foreign enemy,” in a speech at Fort Bragg as he defended deploying the military on violent demonstrators opposed to his illegal alien enforcement raids.

Only days after riots against the administration’s illegal alien crackdown began in Los Angeles, Trump has ordered almost 5,000 troops — including 700 Marines — to the city in a stunning display of force.

The deployment will cost around $134 million and last 60 days.

Hegseth on Tuesday defended the deployment of Guard troops and Marines to respond to illegal alien riots in Los Angeles, saying the military was “proud” to do it.

Los Angeles leaders imposed a downtown curfew through Wednesday morning to deal with riots against Trump’s illegal alien crackdown, while the governor accused him of drawing a “military dragnet” across the nation’s second-largest city.

Gov. Gavin Newsom asked a federal court to block Trump from using the California National Guard and Marines to assist with illegal alien raids in Los Angeles, saying it would only heighten tensions.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The defense acquisition system is broken — it’s time for an overhaul. U.S. industrial might helped save the free world in World War II. “We won because we smothered the enemy in an avalanche of production.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday cast doubt on the future utility of airborne battle management aircraft, particularly the E-7 Wedgetail, and said space-based capabilities represent the future of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Air Force’s plan to buy 26 new E-7 Wedgetail radar planes is in jeopardy as DOD shifts its focus to space-based surveillance.

The intelligence community should lean harder on industry and make fewer of its tech tools in-house, the director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, said.

First look at what the USAF’s new AGM-181A Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) nuclear-armed cruise missile could actually look like.

PENTAGON WOKE WATCH

Hegseth says recruitment boosted because DOD knows ‘men are men and women are women.’

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that seven Army bases will revert to names that once honored Confederate leaders but will now take the names of nine highly decorated Army soldiers of the same name.

POLITICS

Members of a crowd filled with members of the military and their families booed and jeered Trump’s political rivals and the press at the president’s prompting during his address at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

As the Army prepares for its 250th birthday parade, the service is hauling in millions of pounds worth of military equipment into Washington, D.C.

DOD plans to allocate more than $4 billion in fiscal 2026 to fund development of the Air Force’s Next-Gen F-47 stealth fighter and Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) drones.

Hours before House appropriators took an initial swing marking up a $832 billion defense spending bill, members pushed SECDEF Hegseth over the lack of available details about the administration’s plan.

DOGE’s team inside DOD includes more than 100 private-sector executives, engineers and investors from Silicon Valley, big banks and tech startups enlisted to dramatically downsize the department.

Two Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee established the House Golden Dome Caucus to advocate for Trump’s advanced homeland missile defense shield.

US POWER OVERSEAS

The top U.S. general for Africa endorsed keeping the military headquarters overseeing U.S. forces and operations in Africa and Europe separate, especially as Africa faces a growing terrorism threat and increased Chinese influence.

Aircraft armed with advanced laser-guided rocket systems took out a little under half of the one-way attack drones the Houthis launched against military and commercial vessels during the U.S. military campaign that unfolded between March and May in and around the Red Sea.

Crew of USS Oscar Austin awarded Combat Action Ribbon. The warship played a pivotal role as Houthi rebels fired hundreds of rockets and drones towards U.S. ships in the Red Sea this spring.

CHINA THREAT

Two Chinese aircraft carriers are operating simultaneously for the first time beyond the so-called First Island Chain in the western Pacific.

Will China force a rethink of biological warfare? Is DOD still preparing to fight biological warfare as if it’s 1970?

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

New video footage purportedly shows the attack on a Ukrainian drilling rig in the Black Sea by a Russian supersonic cruise missile launched by a Tu-22M3 Backfire-C bomber.

AIM-9X being used by Ukraine’s drone boats to engage Russian Jets, not AIM-9M. Ukrainian Lt. Gen. talked about his intel agency’s game-changing drone boat campaign against Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

IRAN THREAT/ISRAEL/MIDEAST

Growing fears of massive strikes on Iran as nuclear negotiations sputter. Trump has been presented with a broad array of potential military options against Iran should ongoing nuclear negotiations with that country fail.

Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, has said that the U.S. is no longer pursuing the goal of an independent Palestinian state, marking the most explicit abandonment yet of a cornerstone of U.S. Middle East diplomacy.

Israel’s navy attacked docks in Yemen’s rebel-held port city of Hodeida, launching its first seaborne assault against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels while warning more could come.

Hamas has killed 50 fighters in recent months from a Palestinian group armed by Israel in Gaza, amid reports that Israeli troops directly intervened this week to protect the faction.

SPACE THREAT

Chinese spacecraft prepare for orbital refueling test as US surveillance sats lurk nearby. Two Chinese Shijian satellites appear to be maneuvering towards a rendezvous and docking in geostationary orbit, with U.S. surveillance spacecraft also in the vicinity.

SpaceX plans up to 76 Starship launches annually from Old Delta IV launch site at Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

UK today announced a more than $8 billion investment for two major production sites set to build and deliver “up to” 12 nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs) under the trilateral AUKUS program.

Canada has earmarked new funding to shore up the country’s defense industry and create new links with European nations to reduce its reliance on U.S. military equipment.

Pakistan has confirmed that China offered to sell it 40 J-35 advanced stealth aircraft, as well as airborne early warning aircraft and surface-to-air missiles.

US MILITARY

Mysterious shipping container designed to fire the same suite of artillery rockets and ballistic missiles as the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) was spotted at Trump’s visit to Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Georgia National Guard officially activated a new intelligence unit this month, the first of its kind in the Army, specifically tasked with electromagnetic warfare.

Uncrewed battle groups? DARPA, admirals offer glimpses of the Navy’s robotic future.
