Rubio Blocks 7 Biden Nominees in Committee

-

Washington, D.C. GOP Sen. has upped the stakes in the GOP's ongoing battle with the Biden over a host of issues by placing holds on seven of the president's recent nominees and re-nominees to influential positions needing Senate confirmation.

In a statement, Rubio blasted the administration for choosing people of questionable character and accomplishment to occupy positions of authority within the federal .

“One of these nominees has ignored credible sexual assault accusations in his prior office. Another has done legal work with solar panel companies operating in Xinjiang, where egregious human rights abuses are committed,” Rubio's statement read.

The Biden nominations Rubio has asked his colleagues on the not to take up include:

  • Eric Garcetti to be U.S. Ambassador to India;
  • Richard Verma to be Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources;
  • Michael Ratney, to be U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
  • Felice Gorodo, to be the United States Alternate Executive Director of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development;
  • Richard Weiner, to be the United States Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development;
  • Leopoldo Martínez Nucete; to be the United States Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank and
  • Geeta Rao Gupta, to be Ambassador at Large for Global Women's Issues.

In his statement, Rubio described the nominees as including “an extremist, someone with no diplomatic or investment experience, and an individual who has supported a policy of engagement with Cuba's murderous dictatorship.”

Except for Verma, Rubio has voted against all the nominees when they were under consideration in the 117th . The failure of the Senate to act on them has forced the president to send their names up to Capitol Hill once again.

A longtime Senate tradition, a “hold” occurs when a senator asks his colleagues to wait to act on a nomination to which he or she is personally opposed or for some other reason like a policy dispute. The request, while not binding, is usually upheld at least for a time as a matter of what is considered senatorial courtesy between colleagues.

Rubio concluded his announcement by promising he would not turn “a blind eye” to what he called “absurd nominations” that “will hasten America's decline” if they are allowed to move forward. Instead, the senator implied, he intended to keep them bottled up in committee for as long as possible.

  1. All you need to get a job from god worshiping globalists and their puppet chester biden, is to allow your god to make you imagine he can make you 1,000 different genders .

  2. I have to wonder how long these positions have been vacant, and what that impact has on day-today gov’t operations… Has anyone ever considered ELIMINATING these positions with mile-long titles???

    • I also wonder why they are appointed by the President who generally never has a clue as to whatever the position requires of the appointee !

  3. Bless Rubio for continuing to expose the Synonyms of inept 1 : generally incompetent : bungling inept leadership of Biden. He always looks deeper into a problem or qualifications of those recommended for a gov.’t. position. In this case as usual he’s dug out the facts that show once again Biden does not care how he destroys America’s government.
