HOMELAND SECURITY

BLUSTER OR THREAT? Russia warns of ‘direct military confrontation’ with US as Russian forces in Ukraine retreat. Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov, however, earlier said the West is provoking Russia.
THE BUTCHER OF SYRIA – Russia appoints new Ukraine war commander, US official says. A U.S. official said Russia named Gen. Alexander Dvornikov as commander of an armed campaign that Russian authorities still call a “special military operation.”
US warns of major assault as Russian military shifts its focus. American military officials said they expect Russian troops to carry out a major offensive from the city of Izium to Dnipro, which is a strategic target.
Patriot missile battery heading to Slovakia amid Ukraine invasion response. The Army will send a Patriot missile battery to Slovakia, the Pentagon announced Friday, to backfill that country’s air defense capabilities.
Ukraine’s Zelensky says tens of thousands killed in Mariupol, seeks military aid from S.Korea. “Mariupol has been destroyed, there are tens of thousands of dead, but even despite this, the Russians are not stopping their offensive,” Zelenskiy said in a video address to South Korean lawmakers.

IRAN THREAT
AND NUKE BOMBS TOO – Iran promises to continue developing peaceful nuclear program. Saturday’s ceremony, attended by President Ebrahim Raisi and nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami, had several displays of radiopharmaceuticals mainly aimed at treating and preventing the spread of cancer, several uses of plasma technology, including deployment of cold plasma to treat cancer patients, and displays of laser-based technology for industrial uses.
INTERNATIONAL SECURITY
Russia’s new world order is bad news for Africa. Rather than following the lead of despots like Putin and Xi, Africa should chart its own path.
Israeli air raids target positions in Syria. Israel launched new air raids on locations in Syria where Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Lebanon’s Hezbollah have a presence, a human rights monitoring group said.
Pakistan’s parliament set to elect new prime minister. Pakistan’s parliament was set to meet on Monday to elect a new prime minister, with opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif the favorite to win after a week-long constitutional crisis that climaxed on Sunday when Imran Khan lost a no-confidence vote.
A historian at ICE hunts Latin American war criminals in the US. For as long as immigrants fleeing conflict have arrived in the United States, a tiny number of fugitive war criminals have hidden among them. The number of alleged war criminals from Central America, absconding after civil wars in El Salvador and Guatemala in the 1980s, dwarfs any other population of human rights abusers living in the United States. So they threaten ” direct confrontation ” with us do they? Guess they forgot about the old saying of “MAD”, where their country will be destroyed along with ours, along with most of the rest of the world. You would like to think that even Putin is smart enough to realize that.
I would hope that a direct conflect with Russia could be delayed or stopped by Putin and us. I’m not surprised by this conflict Joe Biden is one of the most dishonest &weak president we have ever had the countries that are against us are flexing their muscle. Biden & Obama adm. are putting world conflect in gear, how all this mess plays out is one big ?????
