A Florida sheriff accused of being a cross-dresser is waging a public war against a white supremacist organization and is even posting photographs of himself in a bra.
The battle started when the neo-Nazi group “Goyim Defense League” blanketed the county and Daytona International Speedway in anti-Semitic and white supremacist flyers and used bullhorns to shout at Jewish worshippers at a local synagogue.
The actions drew widespread condemnation.
Among the critics was Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, who said, “We have unity in this county, we stand beside one another in this county, and we stand beside our Jewish neighbors. We are not going to tolerate this.”
That’s when the neo-Nazi group responded by passing out flyers with photographs of a shirtless Chitwood wearing a bra in public, claiming the sheriff was a “cross-dresser.”
Chitwood was unfazed.
“These ‘master race’ white supremacist morons keep dropping flyers of the ‘cross-dressing sheriff’ like it’s going to hurt my feelings or turn people against me,” Chitwood wrote in a post on the campaign’s Facebook page.
“Hey losers, here are a few more photos you can use,” Chitwood added, posting additional photographs of himself dancing in a bra in public.
But the photos aren’t what they seem.
Chitwood, and other local leaders, donned bras for a fashion show as part of a “Bratini” fundraiser for breast cancer charities organized by the Daytona Beach Realtors.
Chitwood’s campaign is also now selling “Scumbag Eradication Team” t-shirts and mugs adorned with a cartoon of himself flushing Nazis down a toilet. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Volusia Sheriff’s Youth Foundation program to be used to take local kids to the Florida Holocaust Museum.
