Donald Trump Indicted In Special Counsel’s Jan. 6 Investigation

-

Former President has been indicted by a federal grand jury listening to evidence in Special Counsel 's 2020 election probe.

Shortly before 5 p.m. EDT, Trump posted on Truth Social that he expected to be indicted momentarily, writing, “I hear that Deranged Jack Smith, in order to interfere with the Presidential Election of 2024, will be putting out yet another Fake Indictment of your favorite President, me, at 5:00 P.M.”

Around 5:20 p.m., national media outlets announced the grand jury returned a sealed indictment.

The special counsel's office confirmed Trump's latest indictment a few minutes after that.

The charges add to the unprecedented legal trouble confronting the former president and current GOP front-runner.

Fox News has more:

Trump was indicted on four federal charges out of the probe, including Conspiracy to Defraud the ; Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding; Obstruction of, and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding; and Conspiracy Against rights.

This is the second federal indictment the former president faces out of Smith's investigation. Trump, who leads the 2024 GOP presidential primary field, has already pleaded not guilty to 37 counts related to his alleged improper retention of classified records from his presidency.

Six co-defendants were listed in the document. The co-defendants are unnamed, but the indictment describes their positions and alleged roles.

Those charges include willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and false statements. Trump was charged with an additional three counts as part of a superseding indictment out of that probe last week.

This is the second time in U.S. history that a former president has faced federal criminal charges.

  1. Trump won’t have to spend one red cent on campaigning. The Dimmowhizzes are doing a perfectly fine job for him.
