Arrests Made, Details Scarce
Federal agents arrested several individuals in Michigan this morning who were allegedly planning a violent attack timed for the Halloween weekend, FBI Director Kash Patel announced early Friday on X.
The arrests took place in cities including Dearborn and Inkster, according to law enforcement officials familiar with the operation.
“Multiple subjects” were taken into custody as part of a federal operation described by Patel as one that “saved lives.”
FBI Chief Credits Law Enforcement
Patel praised the agents involved, writing: “Thank you to the men and women of the FBI and law enforcement everywhere, standing guard 24/7.”
As CNN reports:
The FBI’s Detroit field office confirmed “the FBI in Michigan were present in the cities of Dearborn and Inkster this morning conducting law enforcement activities,” spokesperson Jordan Hall told CNN. “There is no current threat to public safety.”
The Dearborn Police Department said it “has been made aware that the FBI conducted operations in the City of Dearborn earlier this morning.”
“We want to assure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time,” the police department said.
Neither the FBI nor the Dearborn police said that the operations were connected to the arrests Patel announced Friday morning.
Public Details Still Withheld
Authorities have not yet released the names of those arrested, the intended target, or how far along the plot was. Officials reiterated that the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released when appropriate.
