The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Spanish prosecutors are examining allegations that Grammy-winning singer Julio Iglesias sexually and physically assaulted two former female employees while they worked at his residences in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, according to reports citing a formal complaint filed earlier this month.

The complaint, filed Jan. 5, 2026, prompted a preliminary review by Spain’s highest criminal court. Two women — identified by pseudonyms — allege that Iglesias, 82, sexually assaulted them and subjected them to verbal and physical abuse while they were employed at his Caribbean properties in 2021.

In addition to the sexual assault allegations, the complaint includes claims related to human trafficking, forced labor, and servitude tied to the women’s working conditions.

Spanish prosecutors have agreed to hear testimony from the accusers as protected witnesses, though no date has been set. The court has not yet formally assumed jurisdiction over the case.

People magazine continues:

Nongovernmental group Women’s Link Worldwide announced it’s representing the two women, who went public with the allegations under the pseudonyms Rebeca and Laura. They both shared statements via the organization.

“I am doing this to get justice for three reasons. The first is for myself: for how difficult this process has been and for everything I have had to face in order to overcome it. The second is for the women who work in his homes: I want to tell them to be strong, to raise their voices, to remember that he is not invincible. And the third, for my country [the Dominican Republic]: so that something like this never happens again and so that he understands that he cannot come and do whatever he wants without facing the consequences,” wrote Rebeca.

Laura’s statement read, “My goal is to ensure that no woman ever suffers this kind of abuse from him again. I want to send the message that women are victims and survivors, not perpetrators or guilty parties.”

In a statement released after prosecutors announced an investigation, Iglesias denied the allegations, calling them “completely false.”

His attorney said Spanish authorities lack jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed outside the country and described the accusations as a “malicious” attempt to harm the star’s reputation.

Iglesias is one of the world’s best-selling recording artists, with a career spanning decades and multiple Grammy honors, including a 1988 award for Best Latin Pop Performance and a Lifetime Achievement Grammy.

Among his biggest hits in the United States were his English-language duets, particularly “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before” with Willie Nelson and “All of You” with Diana Ross.
