The shooting triggered an immediate campus lockdown and a heavy police presence. Students were seen being escorted away from the area with their hands raised — a standard police procedure to ensure individuals are not armed and to minimize confusion during high-risk situations.

Fox News has additional details, including reactions from government officials:
Attorney General Pam Bondi released a statement on the situation.
The [FBI] is on the scene at Florida State and we are in communication with agents on the ground. Our priority is the safety of everyone involved. We will keep updating as we learn more. Praying for all,” Bondi wrote.
FBI Director Dan Bongino also confirmed that the bureau was on the scene at FSU.
“The FBI is on the scene at FSU. I am en route back to DC from our LA office but we are getting updates on the situation on the plane. We will update you as we learn more,” Bongino wrote in a post on X.
This is not the first time Florida State has faced such violence. In 2014, a gunman opened fire at the university’s Strozier Library, injuring three. The recurrence of campus shootings continues to fuel safety concerns among students and staff nationwide.
According to a 2023 BestColleges survey, 65% of college students report fear of school shootings. A majority — 63% — support stricter gun laws as a preventive measure.
More updates are expected as officials release additional information. The campus remains on high alert as investigators process the scene and provide updates to the community.

Stricter gun laws? Gun laws will not impede criminals. They can however severely impede law abiding citizens of their right to protect themselves and others. How about the perp being summarily executed?
Another nut-bar starts dropping the hammer on people and idiots want to take the firearms out of law abiding citizens hands so criminals don’t even have to wonder if there will be an armed response to their attack. College students are idiots ad only think in the moment rather than long term effects of their actions.
