A senior Israeli official working under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was arrested in Nevada during a child predator sting operation, only to be released and sent back to Israel with no apparent consequences.
Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, 38, is the executive director of the Israel Cyber Directorate — the agency responsible for civilian cyber defense and operating directly under Netanyahu’s authority.
Alexandrovich was recently arrested in Henderson, a suburb of Las Vegas, during a two-week sting targeting suspects seeking to lure children online for sexual purposes. Law enforcement charged him with felony luring of a child using a computer — a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison under Nevada law.
Despite the seriousness of the charge, Alexandrovich was released from custody and quickly returned to Israel.
Israeli officials — including Netanyahu — denied that an arrest occurred. The prime minister claimed Alexandrovich had only been questioned before returning home “as scheduled.” A statement from Netanyahu’s office dismissed the incident as having no political implications:
A state employee who traveled to the U.S. for professional matters was questioned by American authorities during his stay. The employee, who does not hold a diplomatic visa, was not arrested and returned to Israel as scheduled.
A Friday press release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department offered a different account of Alexandrovich’s time in Sin City:
A multi-agency operation targeting child sex predators led to the arrest of eight individuals over the last two weeks.
The Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) joint operation included detectives and agents from the ICAC Task Force and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, to include the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nevada Attorney General’s office who participated in organizing and conducting the operation in Henderson, NV.
Those arrested were David Wonnacott-Yahnke, 40; Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, 38; Jose Alberto Perez-Torres, 35; Aniket Brajeshkumar Sadani, 23; James Ramon Reddick, 23; Ramon Manuel Parra Valenzuela, 29; Neal Harrison Creecy, 46 and John Charles Duncan, 49. They all face felony charges of Luring a Child with Computer for Sex Act and were booked into the Henderson Detention Center with the exception of Duncan who was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
We would like to remind parents to discuss with their children the dangers of engaging with strangers online. Parents are encouraged to routinely monitor their children’s activity on social media and other online applications to prevent them from becoming victims of a child sex predator. This operation was conducted as part of the ongoing efforts to reduce violent crime and protect children in our community.

At the time of the sting, Alexandrovich was attending Black Hat 2025, one of the world’s largest cybersecurity conferences held in Las Vegas. His LinkedIn profile, which has since been deleted, listed him as head of the Cyber Directorate’s executive division.
Israeli media outlets, including Ynet, echoed the government’s framing of the incident as a routine inquiry — a move widely seen as an effort to minimize diplomatic fallout and avoid domestic political damage.
The sting itself was carried out by the Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The operation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, underscoring the seriousness with which investigators approached the case.

NOT trying to make any excuses or defend this individual but it certainly would not be the first time that an individual got caught in such a sweep and upon further investigating was released for insufficient evidence. OTOH he could be guilty as charged and got released for ‘political expediency’ – us mere mortals will likely never know either way. But I bet that he will be watched very closely in the future.
