Katie Hobbs’ Finger-Pointing Falls Flat After the Truth is Revealed About Recent Campaign Burglar

-

Just because you say it doesn't make it true.

Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs learned that valuable lesson after reports revealed the suspect behind the October 24th burglary of her campaign office is actually an illegal immigrant. But not until after she pointed fingers at Arizona Republican Kari Lake as the potential mastermind behind the Watergate-esque break-in.

On Wednesday, Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) said Daniel Mota Dos Reis, 36, of Portugal, who arrived in the United States as a registered student in 2018, was arrested last week for criminal trespassing and burglary charges, according to The Daily Wire.

Mota is “currently at-large for administrative immigration violations for failing to maintain his status as a registered student at an academic institution,” Yasmeen Pitts O'Keefe, a public affairs officer for ICE, told local .

Last week, Hobbs' campaign fired off a thinly-veiled attack against Lake, attempting to blame her for the criminal activity. (RELATED: Kari Lake Rips Democrat Katie Hobbs Over Baseless Campaign Office Break-in Accusation)

“Let's be clear: for nearly two years Kari Lake and her allies have been spreading dangerous misinformation and inciting threats against anyone they see fit. The threats against Arizonans attempting to exercise their constitutional rights and their attacks on elected officials are the direct result of a concerted campaign of lies and intimidation,” Hobbs said in a statement last week.

Lake wasted no time before hitting back at Hobbs's baseless lies.

As American Liberty News previously reported:

“I can't believe she would blame my amazing people, blame me for something like that,” Lake said. ‘I don't even know where her campaign office is. I'm assuming it's in a basement somewhere, because that's where she's been campaigning. You guys are despicable for falling into that trap.”

“I'm saddened that Hobbs and her camp would try to pin this on us. It's defamatory and it's wrong. Her own party is attacking her. She is trying to deflect her abysmal campaign,” Lake added.

Mota has now violated the “terms of his admission” and is wanted by immigration authorities. However, local media suggest that it is unclear why Mota was not held by immigration authorities and released to the public.

Enforcement and Removal Operations, a division of ICE with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, told local media that Mota “came to ERO's attention after his arrest by the Phoenix Police Department” on October 27 and was advised that Mota “had bonded out of Maricopa County Sheriff's custody prior to a detainer being issued.”

Under Democrat leadership, illegal immigration has exploded at the border and resources have been quickly depleted. According to data, there are approximately 11 million illegal migrants currently in the U.S.

Arizona's gubernatorial race is expected to be close as Lake and Hobbs continue duking it out for the lead. RealClearPolitics has ranked the race as a “toss up” but Lake has managed to slightly pull ahead in recent .

The latest FOX poll reported Lake with a one-point advantage over Hobbs while the most recent NYT/ Siena poll reported the two candidates in a deadlock mere days away from Election Day.
