Matt Gaetz To Introduce Bill To Defund Jack Smith Probes Into Trump

-

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) says he will introduce legislation to defund Special Counsel Jack Smith‘s investigations into former president Donald Trump.

Gaetz made the comments defending Trump on his podcast a few hours after the former president was notified he's a subject of the Justice Department's Jan. 6th investigation and staring down a third potential indictment.

“They are attacking our democracy and engaging in election interference right now,” said Gaetz, who vowed to “defund the  investigation.”

The pro-Trump Congressman said he knows President Biden (D) would not sign his proposal into law and that Senate Majority Leader “Chuck Schumer [D-N.Y.] would never bring such a thing up.”

“But you deserve to know where your members of are countedWill they cosponsor my legislation? I certainly hope they will,” he said.

After Trump was indicted in the investigation into documents found at his home Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also called for defunding Smith's office.

Trump slammed the investigations in a statement Tuesday.

“Deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with 's DOJ, sent a letter (again it was Sunday night!) stating that I am a TARGET of the January 6th Grand Jury investigation, and giving me a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an arrest and indictment.”

  1. What good does it do to offer bills that have no chance of getting anywhere ?? The House can vote to defund Smith but the Senate won’t reciprocate so why bother ??
They should be focusing on getting rid of Garland like the democRATS did to force Roberto Gonzales, Bush’s A.G. to resign for doing the very same thing Clinton’s A.G., Janet Reno did.

  2. Gaetz is making the right move. It is to bad this did not happen sooner. Watching these demos during Shapely & Zigler’s testimony today in front of Comer’s committee made me sick. These demos are so out of touch with reality trying to blame Biden’s crime family on Trump. We need Trump in the white house to get rid of these sick, lying Biden crime family who will be out on their rumps.

  3. When Republicans appoint a special counsel the investigation drags on for many years and the final report generally contains no recommendation for severe sanctions commensurate with the crimes. Not so with the democrats, Jack Smith, and former Mueller team prosecutor Andrew Weissmann are attack dogs who stop at nothing in their determination to get a conviction.
